i've been following this story a bit. all of this stuff is pretty f-ed up. kind of puts things into perspective and makes you realize that there are still people/places in this world that are stuck in the 19th century. it's kind of frightening really how cut off these people truly are from the outside world.

There was a lady that escaped a couple of years ago and she was telling her story, it was pretty sad her son was diying and they didn't offer good care for him. It kind of reminds me of the movie "the village".

^ fundamentalist mormons. Most modern mormon's strictly reject polygamy, as it was officially banned from their religion over 100 years ago. They also reject uderage marriage.

I was reading that they have settlements like this one everywhere, they even have them in Canada.

Unfortunately, that's not all too surprising. People will find ways to get what they want. It really sucks when it's religious books that they use to get it though.

While my ladyfriend would Bobbitt me if had a girl on the side, polygamy's a cultural practice so if they're free and willing, I don't see a problem with someone having multiple spouses. The thought of having *two* gf's though.....*shudder*

This was on the news again last night and they were talking about how the majority of the 416 children don't know who their biological father is. WTF? I also don't think most of the people in polygamous relationships are free or willing. (Well, not in this example anyway). This story keeps getting crazier and crazier!
