Are you scared of heights?

Simple yes or no. I personally am not. I have been intimidated by extreme heights but have always been able to do it even if it makes my butthole pucker.

Any way, my new job has me doing crazy stuff from up high.

Here is a picture of of us putting up some Xmas decor last week.

Dude... That looks like badass job to have!!!

Both my brothers work for a company that puts up cell towers and maintains them
My grandfather was an iron worker and actually helped build the kingdom in Seattle (that no longer is there)
They never used fall harness they just had safety belts, he talks about walking the iron without being tied off.

I'd say being high up is in my blood, when I was a littler kid my brothers and I used to climb trees.

Not scared of heights or falls.
it's not the fall that kills you, its the sudden stop!

Yeah totally. I love being way the fuck up there. It is the closest that humans will ever see life like a bird. It is super fun. Tonight I got to go up to the roof to check on the christmas tree that we put on the top of the needle. Dope sauce for sure. I can't wait to get up to Pan Dome. Best snowboarding view in the state imo. I am just amped up lately I think :dunno:

Would you walk on the roof of the Space Needle?

What if I give you a rib-eye and a good bier;)

Totally, I hate heights, like chairlifts, ladders etc, basically unstable height, if I'm on something solid and can hold on I'm fine. My girlfriend is a lot worse, she doesn't even like being at the top of a multi storey carpark!

While I can`t handle heights like rock climbing or even big air on a snowboard, I am a private pilot and flying in a light plane does not bother me in the least. I even enjoy performing aerobatics, zero G dives and spinning. As long as I am enclosed in a cabin and know that I am in a craft meant to fly I am fine, but you wont see me rappelling off cliffs or getting more than a few feet off of the ground on a snowboard!

Ironically I am the same but opposite. I like airs on a board, rock climbing, roofed professionally for 6 years where we often did crane work 60-100 feet up. Not to mention just walking on toe-boards on a 45degree pitch with a 40 foot gutter line is pretty unforgiving.

Flying, bungee jumping, skydiving, fuck all that scary shit. I can't fly unless I get inebriated at the airport.

I try to do a decent amount of alpine hiking, exposure scares the fuck out of me as well, I won't even hardly APPROACH the edge. If I'm strapped in however, I'll just go.

So, to the OP, its just not that simple. FWIW your job seems scary to me. I've talked to people who work on radio towers and shit, not for me either.

Oh and I have somewhat chronic/genetic vertigo, which doesn't help lol.

No, unless the height is extreme

I don't like heights, but it's not at the level of a phobia. My first season riding, I didn't enjoy the higher parts of the chairlift and had to look at the horizon on those sections, but I've long since desensitized to that and I couldn't care less. Jumps still give me a bit of the willies, so I'm taking steps this year to desensitize myself to that.

Phobias are very real and can't just be dismissed as "weakness", but a lot of people who think they have phobias really just have a healthy instinct of self-preservation. You just have to convince your hindbrain that this is no big deal.

Terribly afraid of heights...terribly!

I could not do that job lol...

LMAO!! Right....you must pee your pants on the lift

AS far as heights goes, I'm not scared at all as long as I am the one doing the rigging. I've worked on all types of scaffolding/lifts all my life, from 3-4 section residential, to boom lifts that go 60' up. I set steel on the Nugget tower in Reno from the 10th to 17th floor, and hung acoustic tile in the ceiling of the dome in the Silver Legacy.

I try to avoid flying if at all possible, it's not really a fear of flying, it's the man made/maintained hunk of shit that bothers me. If it was just snowolf flying a plane that he knows/checks, then fine...it's commercial that bothers me, who knows what kind of over worked underpaid crack head is turning wrenches on those things :laugh:
