Hi y'all. So I'm building myself a new gaming PC this christmas, and need some advice on what hardware to get. I wanna keep it as cheap as possible, while still getting powerful stuff.
Does anyone here have a good eye on the best budget hardware? Like the best bang for one's buck? Any advice on graphics cards and processors will be highly appreciated. Peace! |

General Hardware - [H]ard|Forum
Go there and post your budget, what games you want to play, and what parts you don't need (case, monitor, drives, ect). A small warning. Almost every suggested build will be above your budget. Not by much but ever person thinks you can always go an extra $50-$100.

I totally forgot I made this thread here xD
Anyway, I've thrown this together: CPU: Intel Core i5 3570K 3,4Ghz Graphics Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 670 OC Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H RAM: Corsair XMS3 Vengeance DDR3 PC12800/1600MHz CL9 2x4GB Power Supply: Corsair TX550 Harddrive: Intel 330 Series 2.5" SSD 120GB What do you guys think? It landed me at about 760 euros, or roughly 980 USD. (remember I live in Sweden, everything is about twice the cost compared to the US:P) Last edited by KungMartin; 12-08-2012 at 05:10 PM. |

Scrap that list. I ended up getting this instead, for the same price (believe it or not):
Intel Core i7-3770K 3.5GHz Socket 1155 Box Gigabyte GeForce GTX 670 OC 2GB DDR5 2xDVI HDMI DisplayPort PCIe Corsair 8GB (KIT) DDR3 1600MHz/CL9/VENGEANCE Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H Intel Z77 4xDDR3 Socket 1155 ATX Corsair Power Supply 650W New TX650 80 Plus Bronze Noctua NH-D14 CPU-kylare S1155/1156/1366/775/AM2/AM3 Cooler Master HAF 922 XM Tower No PSU Black w/ Red LED fan ATX It was thanks to a 25% off on hardware sale code I got from this awesome dude at the Swedish equivalent of Tom's Hardware. I bought it all for shy of just 750 euros or 970 USD. I'm a happy motherfucker =) |

The i7 and that graphics card might be a little overkill (or a lot) depending on what you're trying to run.
I've got an i5-750 (quad core 1st gen core series processor), and a GTX465 based card and it's still overkill... Anyway, that'll be a quick computer there! |

Either way, since I live in Sweden, where we have INSANELY high taxes, I would originally have to get my first or second list, for the same price that I got my latest list with the 25% off sale code. |

Good set-up. I'll stress how nice SSD hard-drives are. I built my computer last year for $1500 US. It'll be awhile until you are forced to run things at a medium graphics setting.
I can't stress how nice an SSD hard-drive is. 40sec. boot time with a login is so nice. Keep the games you are currently playing and your operating system on the SSD. Everything else can go in a cheap drive. Especially music, movies and photos. |
