Not sure if there's a thread already... Yeah it's xmas morning I'm not seaching damn it!

Well my neighbours clearly know me well, they bought me a home brew IPA beer kit. Anybody else home brew? I just started making mine now. I've made wine before from grapes I had in my backyard in Niagara region... My dad used to go to the u-brew in Ontario. This kit seems like a fun concept because I get to have the stuff fermenting in my house! :) Thinking the basement might be too cool so it'll probably go in my front hall closet.

Well IPA is my absolute favorite beer. Fantastic beer is all about hops. So get it brewed and deliver the keg. Address to follow.

LOL this kit only makes one gallon to start, so I think that's about a 12 pack. I have a feeling I'll be finished drinking this batch LONG before the next batch is ready.

I find a lot of IPAs too bitter for my taste, so I'm going to add the bitter hops a little later in the recipe and add the aromatic hops a little earlier. Hopefully it turns out okay!

Been brewing for several years now. Stouts, IPAs, and interesting one offs primarily.

Do you buy kits or mix the grain yourself? The replacement ingredient kits seem cheap enough but I imagine it's more fun to get creative with your own grain/hop mixes... I like wheat ales, and lots of fruit beers (raspberry, blueberry and apricot) so I may get into them if I find the beer drinkable.

I brew some kit beers for fridge filler, but mainly other recipes or my own recipes. I do a mix of full grain and extract with specialty grains brewing. Honestly, there isn't a huge difference in final product. The biggest difference is the cost if you're brewing a big beer. That extract gets expensive on 8%+ beers.

lol, hurray for Christmas! My Dad used to u-brew about 20 years ago, now he's into his own wine. Has a constant supply of about 300 bottles in his basement so that he's never drinking anything newer than about 1.5 years old.

Cool! I'm the first to admit I'm more into "wussie" beers than strong IPAs, stouts, etc. A nice 5% white ale with an orange in it would be great by me, the one complicated beer I'd like to try making one day would be a lambic raspberry beer. I think it'd be interesting to do a lambic in Alberta. Seems like most of them are done in belgium and Alberta must have some very different yeasts floating around in the air.

I've spent the past few weeks gorging my self on home brewing video on youtube. I plan on starting soon. Just trying to decide how far I want to take it. I've got the space and cash that I could go full bore all grain but I'm not sure about that type of commitment to equipment. Also not sure on if I want go right to kegging. Even if I don't home brew much a kegerator still isn't a bad idea for me since I work for a beer distributor and can get all sorts of 1/6 barrels for really cheap.
