As a woman who lurks on this forum, I guess I just never feel the need to post. I browse a lot, but I never feel the compulsion to join in on a thread. Most of the time this place just feels like a boys' club. I'm not the type of woman who is intimidated by men in groups like this, but it makes the atmosphere pretty alienating. It's no on'e fault, it's just how it is to me. I spend most of my time on reddit.com/r/snowboarding.

I'm female, and read threads on here pretty often, but don't post much because: 1) I'm a newb and don't have much advice to give or stoke to share, and 2) this board is strongly focused on resort riding, which we don't have here and I'm not interested in, so that further limits what I can comment on. I post on other forums, so I think it's just a matter of not having much to contribute. BTW, I do have three older brothers and am an uncurable tomboy. I'm also usually one of the most offensive people in any given group, so I'm not going to run away because of a few crude jokes.

Well here's how I see it:

1) The question should have been worded "what can we do about our perveiced female retention rate" because I dunno about the OP but I have no trouble holding onto women!

2) My GF is a member here. Whenever she goes to post she always asks me what to write. I tell her to just be herself but she gets all wigged out and serious about it. Then I tell her to just ride her camber board and love it.

3) If you all bought some iron boards from custom alpine/BX/hardbooter board builders with a heavy dose of camber you wouldn't be so worried about how many women were on the forum. You'd be at home admiring your carbon fiber/kevlar ironing board instead!!!

4) Oh yeah I forgot you gotta buy a T7 before the ironing board (How did something named the Avalanche "Fucking Light Project" get called an ironing board anyway?!? Seriously, did the designer of any of your boards put FUCKING in the name? lol) so you can fully appreciate how the ironing board is in every way superior to all of your mortal snowboards.

My daughter somewhat does some facebook, pinkbike, powderroom and is considering wolfpack. But is probably more into a varied and speedy chat interaction than a strickly focused forum. And if she needs advice there are plenty of guys to help and give her shit without being on a forum. But still, the gals that are comfortable with and accepted in the bro/brah thing in any sport are relatively rare and they often have older brothers and were raised or took to being a tomboy....perhaps we ought to poll the gals about this.

wrath, I've often wondered why your daughter wasn't on here. Powderroom is one of those ghost town sites I referenced earlier.

I'm one of the rare ones then. And a bit of an outlier - oldest of 3 girls, not raised as a tomboy. I've always been athletic, active in outdoor activities, and enjoy physically pushing myself. And I would be so stoked to do a 4 hour skin for a secret pillow stash!!

All that said, I never miss a salon appointment or any opportunity to wear a dress and heels!

Wouldn't this tend to let women have naturally better balance on the board, progress faster, become "Better" riders??? Just curious!
