Zero point energy, and propulsion via warping matter and space. Things once thought fiction are now possible, yet somehow big money oil companies have been able to muffle their existence. Read the proposal to Obama and Congress to see what they are actually capable of. Welcome to The Orion Project =]

Those things ARE fiction. Who is 'they'? The super geniuses that work in underground labs developing technology that is occasionally leaked out through Spiderman and Men In Black films?

Instead of being cynical conduct your own research, utilize simple google searches, or to make it even easier for you, read what I just said...read the proposal to Obama and Congress. It addresses the fact these technologies do exist, not only in private companies, but in Government facilities as well. It does exist...you just need to be willing to evolve from your comfort zone to exploit it. And be able to read.

Just because someone writes a letter to the president does not make it accurate. Many a book has been written and filled with complete and utter bullshit. Show me one article from a reputable scientific journal that says these technologies exist.
There are 'documentaries' on TV all the time talking about how the moon landing was a hoax.....doesn't make it true.

But the big bad oil companies are out to get us!!!
Remember people, if you have RRSPs 401ks or whatever retirement funds are called in your place of the world, chances are you are part owner of several "big bad companies"... If you don't have retirement plans, why not? ![]() I'm all for the pursuit of greater and greater efficiency of course, but I don't know how much I buy that big bad companies are hiding things from us. I sat having breakfast at a B&B a couple weeks ago and had to listen to one guy tell us how he has the cure for cancer/parkinsons/diabetes/arthritis all in one simple natural substance, but the drug companies won't let it out into the world! WTF... I just looked away and didn't say anything. |

Na, I fully believe that these exist. Oil is too powerful in a capitalistic society, considering it's used in everything
the day we run out is the day they'll throw their hands up and say "OK you guys win, here's the goods"

The problem with these conspiracy theories is that they require the US to be the entire planet. For instance, with the Zero Point Energy (which isn't a technology by the way -- it's a physics theory, and not proven) -- OK, you're claiming the American Oil companies are suppressing the technology. So, why hasn't some other country started using the technology? Do you think the US is the only one that would have the technology? Do you think the American Oil companies have the power to control the Chinese government? How about the Iranian government? How about the Russian government? How about some private industry? And how are they going to prevent universities from just publishing anyway? We can't even stop the purveyors of penis enlargers from enlightening us regularly.
The point here is that when you posit a conspiracy theory of some kind, you have to not just explain how they control the knowledge in the US -- you have to explain how they control the knowledge worldwide, when a lot of the countries have no reason to cooperate and every reason not to.

Hm, let's go with that for a second. So Standard Oil is going to pay Iran and President Amanabajimeigaidkalalbamapwhatthefuck to not only NOT take advantage of an opportunity to embarass the USA, but in addition to NOT take advantage of a supposedly fantastic new source of energy. How much exactly do you think it would take to make that happen, given that Iran's official stance is that the USA is the Great Shaitan and the whole western economic system is His cabana boy? A hundred billion? Two hundred billion? And what do you suppose that the US gov't (and other governments) would think about that amount of money being injected into a country that's supposed to be The Official Enemy? Oh, wait. Standard Oil can pay those countries (and the US gov't) off too. Another couple hundred billion -- pocket change, right? At this point Standard Oil has spent more money trying to suppress a technology than they could possibly ever make back in any kind of oil profits -- and with no guarantee that they'll succeed. It would cost far less to just buy the worldwide rights to the new technology, patent it, control it,and live off the royalties.
Y'know, conspiracy theories bolstered by cheap throwaway claims are easy to create. But when you start thinking about what would actually be involved in making these grand conspiracies work -- it's usually 2/3 of the world population backed by 3/4 of the planet's money doing handsprings to convince 1/3 of the population (and the powerless 1/3 at at that) that blue is red, for no particular benefit that'll stand up to 5 seconds of scrutiny.

If I was the head of one of these big bad oil companies I would be putting as much cash as I could into developing a viable alternative to oil. Why? Because I have no clue what the other companies are working on and I want to make sure I'm not put out of business by them. I want to be the one with the new tech that will ruin the others. It's not just the other oil companies I would have to worry about. It's every other tech company and research organization.
