Default anyone here in law enforcements?

Been looking at joining state fish and game. As i am not 21 yet i figure i still got time to quit my shitty habits. Anyway i now the pay is shitty but ill take that to be out in the woods or water all day, benefits are bad either. Anyway just wondering if anyone was in it and there thoughts on it. Keep in mind fish and game totally different from your county or dickhead state trooper.

I was with the District Attorneys Office for 4 years. They are listed as "law enforcement", but I know not in the sense you are talking about. I did work with several guys from fish and game regularly on some of their misd cases. They all seemed to really enjoy the job. Most of them seemed to like it for much the same reasoning you stated. They enjoyed being able to be outdoors instead of stuck behind a desk or something all day. Benefits are pretty decent, and most of the guys I met at F&G needed those benefits. Never met one who got hurt on the job...but a few who messed themselves up on mountian bikes and other adventure sports. lol

They only thing is that with all law enforcement agencies (including DA), they do a VERY crazy background check. They can interview friends, family, former roomates, neighbors. They can and often do order polygraph as part of the entry process. Any talk of drug use (even if your state says MJ is legal, the feds dont agree and most law enforcement agencies have a no drug policy) or any other issues that pop up in a background check will disqualify you pretty quickly.

Steady pay, good benefits. I also know a few of the same kind of guys (love being outdoors) who went into the forestry service as firefighters. Might be something else to look into as well.

yea the biggest thing i worry about is the polygraph havent smoked in a while but i was a bit of a pothead in highschool. But hey most people have smoked pot. Talked to my cousin whos a cop he said they really only care if its been in the last two years. But forestry service sounds pretty cool but then id feel like im not really making a diffidence

One of my brothers is a Ne. state park ranger, loves it....guess he better because it doesn't pay shit lol. I don't think they did much of a background check on him, just a regular pee test, and a check for felonies.

One time I played that song off one of those I-tunes jukeboxes in Breckenridge. 2 cops walked in. They later pulled me over at the gas station. I almost got a DUI, but stealthy got around that by refusing the breathalyzer test. I was only in there for 2 drinks. Those cops had to let me go at the police station.

I think the cops were offended. It was the same ones. The bar was pretty much empty, except for my dog and some other guy.

Refusing a breath test in Canada gets you a DUI charge.

I work in law enforcement....out in the woods...collecting wildlife....squirrls, butterflies, nuts, trolls and fairies, also the assorted swillers, floaters and crack heads. A little different than boss hog.

Around here you have better chance being a pro snowboarder than getting a benefited fish and forrestry job. And most folks that do the boss hog thing is via military experience.
