You could always get a sled and get a pack of Snowolfs to pull it for you, food is cheaper than gas
But then again you would have to resort to the horse in the summer

My 2002 Jetta 1.8T gets 29 in the city and 41 on the highway, which is pretty sweet if you can keep yourself from engaging the turbo every 2 seconds like I do.
I thought about a motorcycle as well, just not very practical for my life right now and most of the places I need to commute to I can reach by my bike...which has like 18 gears, a motorcycle only has 6 and we all know chicks love beer bellies and lots of gears!

thats pretty impressive about the 1.8T perp. VWs "official" stats on that are MUCH lower from what i remember. 22 or so if i recall.
i used to get decent mileage out of my vr6. about 26 overall.

That really is jsut as expensive as having a car. For starters just to buya horse is almost as much as it is to buy some gas thrifty cars, then I'm sure you food bill is going to be just as much as you gas bill, then you have vet bills for your horse plus a place to keep it you'll have to build. big $$$$$

I never knew that VW's got that good of mpg, thats incredible.
Mazda on the other hand sucks
2004 turbo Mazdaspeed Miata got 24mpg
2004 RX8 got 15mpg real time driving, that car is a fucking gas guzzler, you might as well get an SUV.
2004 mazda 6 like 24mpg, not that incredible.
their mini SUV gets the worst gas millage in it's class like 14mpg I think.

^^^^^ I do have to say that I would not like to be putting fuel in diesel car in this times. It's like 60 cents over regular.
