Im too young for all these prescriptions!

In the past six months due to injuries and other illnesses I have been prescribed drugs ranging from celebrex to amoxicillin. Honestly, I'm starting to feel like a junkie, hehe. The doctor says take these for three days then take these, Oh and you may as well finish with these. Obviously, there is a slight exaggeration there, but not by far. My worst expierience was with the muscle relaxant after my neck strain ( rival soccer game , got kicked in the head). Basically I woke up twice for ten minute periods to eat and then went back to sleep. The next day I was so shaky that going anywhere was out of the question. Currently I am recovering from a concussion, they hurt ....a lot.

Well have a great day everyone!

You have to take care of yourself, drug can be helpful but not if you over use them. It reminds me when I crashed on my motorcycle and my doctor prescribe me some pain killers and I over dozed the second day and ended up in the emergency room :D not a good day.

Just take it easy only take a pill if you really think you need it, try to avoid medicines at all cost. Those things are not good for you, specially for your gastric system they destroy it.

I believe taking care of myself is my biggest problem. I never let any of my injuries have enough time to heal. Instead of running half a mile for a work out after my neck strain healed a bit(2 1/2 weeks) I decided to run a mile and a half and guess what, the muscle started to hurt again. The smart back part of my brain says rest but the contradicting part in front says "ooohhh look bicycle, lets go on a 20 mile ride to the beach!". Hopefully this stage of my life will pass , but if my history has any effect on me, then I will never do light activities such as chess for full on enjoyment.

Sometimes you just have to learn to rest. I know it is hard for us adrenaline junkies but you need to rest and let these things heal.

Live to ride another day :D

I have to agree with Penguin, you have to take care of yourself. When you get older and your body is all fucked up you will regret it. If you notice there are a lot old people riding, I am guessing they might of have taken care of themselves to get to that age and still be riding.

But you don't even look your age, maybe the active lifestyle has kept you young.

as my wife sees more and more patients from other physicians and physicians assistants, she is definitely seeing a lot of medicine being prescribed out of laziness or from catering to the patients desire for something to take.

as for the OP, just be sure to finish the antibiotics. from what my wife tells me, if you don't it increases your chances of that drug losing its effectiveness in the future. and the next level drugs are more expensive and have more side effects.

i know what you mean im 19 and have just booked my second shoulder operation for this summer, full reconstruction...oh the joy.

yea muscle relaxants are pretty chronic, i got prescribed a cocktail of them and some codiene....when ever i lay down it felt like i was falling cause my neck and body were so relaxed it didnt feel like it was supporting me...was a pretty strange week.

Yeaahh. Be good to your body. I wasn't and am feeling the repercussions of my knee acting up a year and a half later. I am in an incredible amount of pain all the time, and it's affecting my ability to skate well and safely.
