My job: I'm an OHS professional for a large construction company. Lots of people don't like me but that's fine by me, I'm not at work to make friends! The work is tough at times, and hair pulling at other times because everybody wants to take a shortcut somehow. On the other hand the management team is good, and fully supports safety, the pay is reasonable, and the benefits are good. I've been working for them since I was 21! Could be a lifer now...

You gotta get into gas and oil home skillet. My wife worked in the safety industry for those fields when she lived there and it was fat cash.

I'm an Analyst and for the State of Michigan. I work for Medicaid, state funded health insurance for low income/at risk population. I research and manage methods for the state to recoup money spent inappropriately when our patients had commercial insurance that should have been billed primary before we paid the claim.

It sounds dry but I've personally been responsible for millions of dollars in recovery the last two years for the state with some of the projects I lead and tens of millions in potential recovery once this project I'm currently leading goes into production. I wish I was paid on commission rather than salary. I'd be livin large.

I'm a Michigan taxpayer's best friend...even though it looks like I'm online all day.

Yeah I could go work in Fort Mac. There's big money up there but the lifestyle SUCKS from what I've heard. We have lots of operators working for us for $30 an hour, when they could make double that up north, because they'd rather be with their family.

If I was smart I'd go work of there for a couple years, pocket a ton of cash, and come back to civilization a rich man! lol

Yeah, Fort Mac is a cesspool from what I've heard too. Basically all those high paid roughnecks blow all that money they get up there on hookers and coke....which now that I typed it out doesn't sound that bad.

Yes and no. I VERY briefly dated someone from Fort Mac who was actually a pretty decent guy. He was somewhat responsible with his money and didn't blow it on drugs and alcohol. It takes a certain kind of person to live up there, and it's not for everyone. From what I understood, usually the guys who run into problems are the ones living in the camps because they get bored. Folks who actually own homes up there seem to do better. I've got more to add to this, but my brain has decided to pull a case of the Monday's and short circuit my thoughts. I will add more to this later if/when I remember.

No worries anyway! I've already got a house near Calgary, and thinking about building a new one just outside the city, so I don't think Fort Mac is in the cards for me.

In the long run I may get into consulting. There's good money in the safety side of consulting, we paid an auditor almost $5000 for 3 days of site visits and about 2 days of work at home. It takes me almost a month to gross that kinda money!

Today is one of those days I hate my job. While trying to create stoke in snowboarding and filming for 6 hours had an encounter with #1 skier dad. Needless to say we have footage of me making him cry in front of his kid while his kid pissed his pants. Not a great day at work.
