Default Well then

So today while I was driving home from a friends house I saw this man, alone, in his wheelchair. He had multiple tubes and things coming out from his body. His legs and arms were locked down in his chair, leaving his hands just enough room to move his joystick to use his chair. He was trying to cross the street when it was his turn, but unfortunately he was having trouble getting down the curb. I jumped out of my car and tried to help the guy; I wasn't going to just sit there and watch. I was having trouble so I yelled to the other cars if I could get some help. Most of them ignored me or turned their music up. One guy even yelled "The cripple doesn't need your help! Get back in your fucking car!" Needless to say, I got pretty pissed. After about a minute of blocking the intersection and helping this guy I finally got him moving again. He thanked me then was on his way.

Now here's my question. Why the FUCK do people treat others as lesser beings? This guy is human. Sadly something has happened and now he's in a wheelchair. Help him out! Don't downgrade him and make him feel like shit. You have your ability to walk and use your arms and legs. You can hug your friends and play ball with your son. You can dance and you can sing. You should be thankful for that. This guy can't. But he's still human and deserves to be treated like all of us. He's deserving of respect.

Also, I got bitched at for trying to help this guy out? What, and why?? I try to be a decent person and get bitched at for it. The asshole screaming shit at me probably is too embarrassed to be seen helping others. He and his friends probably shoot up the block every night, and if he's seen helping someone his friends will think lesser of him. If he had balls he would have helped this guy.

I'm sorry, rant done. I just had to get that out there.

You are going to be a great cop, I would not mind having you around my neighborhood to take care of it. You did the right thing at helping the guy , I know I would of done the same thing. You know, with my aunt in a close to vegetable state I see how people tend to treat other people like they are less, I am not sure why they do it though. Maybe they are insecure about themselves.

Either way, congrats man, we need more people like you in this world and less like that jackass in the car.

Alaric all I can say is fuck what the ignorant masses were saying and just keep doing what you are doing. It only takes one person to make a difference for someone else. Hence your story above.

Thanks guys.

It just really bugs me that a majority of the people in this world don't help other people, kinda like the recent story of the man that was laying in the street after being hit by a car.

Shit like this just makes me sick

Default The guy thanked you and thats what matters

People on a general scale are sly and disgusting. Individually everyone has good qualities, while as a group the worst comes out. Now the guy thanked you for your help which in my opinion beats getting yelled at by idiots because you get a good feeling. I wish that my 90+ neighbor wouldn't shoo me away everytime I ask to help out carrying her 15 pound groceries up a flight of stairs. lol "i've been doing this for over twenty years , I do not need help!"...."ahh ok miss, have a good day". Ironically I will probably be the same as her when I get old.

You couldn't be further from the truth, generally people are nice and loving, you just don't notice them as much as the few assholes that you encounter.

There was a story last year about a injured skier who was ignored by hikers. One guy was quoted as saying, "he was screaming so much that I didn't want to deal." There problem there was the masses and their elitism.

I noticed that as a photographer in the terrain parks, I became callus to the kooks. One kid broke his wrist and I said, "please move to the side, more people are coming!" People that I wanted to shoot. I didn't help him.

Next season I broke my wrist in a photoshoot where I was the rider! What goes around comes around. I learned my lesson.

As Kills said Alaric, you just keep doing what you're doing. You know you did the right thing, we know you did the right thing, who gives a flying fuck about selfish bastards that are so self-absorbed that they can't take two minutes out of their day for a random act of kindness. You Sir, are the type of person that this world needs more of and don't you ever think differently.

Just imagine how fucked up this place would be if everyone thought like those other people? If only other people knew that the Karma fairy bestows Threesomes, midgets and booze on people like yourself!

Meh. Who cares about those asshats? You were the pro-active one, and that's what counts. And I still never heard what happened to you breaking yourself...
