"the happening"

well call me w/e you want, but I actually liked the movie, now granted the fucking actors suck balls, the movie itself is not that bad. M. Night Shyamalan in my opinion is a great director, yes I agree he has made better movies, but this movie does not deserve a 20%. If i would have to rate it, I would give it a 70% the only thing holding it bad are the actors.

Note, I knew what I was waking into as I read some spoilers before going, plus I am a Big Big fan of M. Night Shyamalan work, so my review is a bit biased :D.

Mark Wahlberg SUCKS, he is the worst fucking actor in the world, that piece of shit fucked up the movie.

the ending is not as bad as other movies, but I do have to agree that he could of done a bit better in that part.

That's good to hear about the writing and directing, but if all the acting sucked then there is no way the movie could be a 7 out of 10. Especially if the ending was only so-so on topp of that. I'll still see it and give my 2 cents, probably at some point this weekend if I can download a decent copy.

And Wahlberg a shitty actor, granted I haven't seen this recent film, but The Departed, Invincible, Boogie Nights, sorry but I think your over-looking the rest of his career, Simply. Granted I do like him as an actor, but his performances in those movies were all solid.

and let's not forget the most important work of his career

But seriously though... I have a feeling this movie's gonna be gloriously bad. When the best advertising campaign they can come up with is "His first R rated film!" I have to laugh. I can't wait to see it this weekend. (I have a thing for bad movies, I blame Mystery Science Theater 3000.)

kri$han 06-13-2008 04:02 PM

haha... this movie looks terrible.

Marky mark, however has had some pretty good performances. I agree that he's hit-and-miss (well, mostly miss), but he was good in some movies, like "We Own the Night"... there's a few others too. He's typecast (like most actors), and if his managers put him in a role that he's not suited too, he will bomb like hiroshima.

Well he might not suck in his overall career, but in this movie the guy must of been on drugs or something. He just did a horrible job, he plays a straight married guy, but most of the movie he looks gay and confused (not trying to offend anyone, it's just my perspective).

When I gave the movie a 70% I overlooked the acting, I know it's not right but I did it just for the sake of the director. The beginning of the movie is solid and even the plot is interesting, someone could debate that the ending sucks, but i think it was just ok (he has done much better in the past).

But if I have to account for the acting in the rating, I would settle with a 50%. I believed this is the type of movie that can be broken or maid by the main actor (that's a stupid argument ), but anyway our friend Mark did a great job at destroying this picture .

the movie actually has a mood similar to War of the Worlds, but it does not get nearly as good as that movie.

Your review sounds pretty spot on to me. MNS seems to always do a good job with the setup. Even Lady in the Water is alright. It's how it takes it from there. Seriously though all I could think of about this moview was "Day of the Tripids" or whatever that film was called, only worse.

On a side note, I saw the Incredible Hulk. Pretty good, but not nearly as great as Iron Man. Eric Bana did a much better Bruce Banner than Norton surprisingly. This movie is much better than the Ang Lee one, but man I didn't really feel like there was anything invested in Bruce Banner. I could have cared less if general Ross got his hands on him or not. They definitely missed on that front. Tim Roth was quite good as the villian and Marvel is setting things up nicely for the Avengers.

I have to say that i never saw Iron man, I might go see it tomorrow. I heard that The Hulk is actually good, but the problem is that it came right after Iron man, and that movie is a hard one to beat.

Ill probably see both of them next week.

No problem for Marvel. Since they own and produced both movies. Paramount and Universal just got the distribution rights. They get some money, but it's mere pennies compared to what Marvel is raking in. It also allows for characters (and the actors who played them) from Iron Man to be in this flick. It's actually quite mind boggling as to where Marvel can go with this. A comic book universe realized on film. All interconnected and so forth.

for some reason i can't bring myself to like M. Night Shyamalan. he seems to build a solid plot, but then majorly screw something up. i always think of "signs" and the way "scary movie 3" makes fun of it. "they mastered space travel but they can't figure out how to open a door?"
