50GB of free online storage can it get any better than that???
Well here is my question, what do you guys think about it. I am a big freak when it comes to security, I am always conscious of security and people wanting to steal my stuff. I am paranoid with any sort of service like this one, but I love the fact that it's free .So how do you think these people are making any money here? My guess is that they plan to sell the company after a year or so and make a huge profit out of it. But so far it looks like a big investment. I read all their security agreement, they claim that they do not monitor your files, but if they notice any sort of malfunction or illigal activity they will monitor it and they have full access over your stuff and they will use their authority to manage your files. Now they claim that you can upload anything, what about music mp3's, do you think they will report your mp3 files to the cops or something like that? What about software? is it illegal to keep copies of software? like I have a copie of XP, but my file is legal. I just keep a copie instead of the cd. Mooz might be able to help here, I am not sure if any one else has input here. Most of the free services out there are only for 5 GB, this one is amazing offering 50. |

sounds shady imo. only because, like you said, 50GB for free is A LOT! no other company is doing that much for free.
its a great idea in theory but i dont like the fact that this company is going to "monitor" my files. fuck that.

well if you read the terms in all of those sort of services they all say the same thing.
They claim they will not regularly monitor it, but if they find illegal activity they have the right to do ...... with your files. this service is also a BETA service so that can be another no factor to it. |

Disk space is so cheap right now this doesnt suprise me. Plus with things like bit level backups, mass storage becomes even easier.
As for monitoring your files, they have too. The law requires they monitor for things like child porn and other such exploitation. So MPD can't upload there ![]() They won't report you for things like software uploads or mp3 uploads. They're going to report their service as an online "backup" utility. There's nothing illegal about owning mp3s. Now if half the planet starts downloading your pirated copy Snow White on Ice, they may remove it so they don't get bitch slapped by disney. They're not going to report you though.

That is good to know.. I going to try it out and see how it works. Some people claim that they have lost all their info, but this could also be due to the BETA version, I imagine they will soon get rid of it.
Well this is what they wrote Quote:
Good luck on your trip Mooz, have fun. |

So I have decided to try it out and see how it works. The service is solid, there a few errors here and there but nothing to freak out on.
The uploading can be slow if you are using cable or dsl, but if you have access to a T1 or T3 service like the one in my university, the thing is nice and fast. I wrote them an email asking them about the security of my files and here is what they responded Quote:
