so i reckon if i gotta sweat, then do it properly!

to this end, i am seeking somewhere tropical. hell i gotta fork out my hard earned dosh on some kind of carbon foot print, so it might as well be by flying to the tropics.

anyone able to recommend somewhere good?

Depends on what you want to do. For me, the only time I plan on visiting the tropics is if it's the Amazon. And not some commercialized candy ass tour either. I'm not going to spend good money just to go to some damn beach to be surrounded by a million pompous assjacks.

That's pretty much the only way a vacation of mine won't involve snow. :D

Spent a month in Costa Rica around this time a few years ago. It is the rainy season there but considering how long we went for, it didn't rain all that often. Most of the time its only for a couple of hours, definitely no shortage of sun.

I honestly think I'll retire there one day, its an amazing country. LOcals are super nice, endless hiking in rainforests, fresh fruit, beautiful scenery, surfing and stellar beaches. You'll see so much wildlife you'll think your on the Discovery channel. I found it helped quite a bit to know some spanish, especially since we rented a car for the month and drove from place to place, kind of funny when you ask for directions and show the person your map and they point to a place several inches away from where you think you are. Doesn't help that there are a bunch of towns that are named the same.

Bar none it was the best trip I've had so far, would go back there in a heart beat. If you do go I can give you more beta on where to go to and where to avoid.

haha!... well for what Paolo wants, I'd have to agree with you there man, but he said he wants to stay away from the rain, so the amazon might not be the bestest idear.

I -on the other hand- I'm going to Cuba next week, to sit on some damn beach to be surrounded by a million pompous assjacks, which would technically be the same thing I did in Cancun two years ago.

Haha, i dunno about you, but lying on a beach all day and doing "commercial candy ass" things like drinking, snorkeling, seadooing, wind surfing then boozing some more and partying in 90 degree weather, surrounded by women that wanna be taken home for one night stands sounds like a fucking amazing time to me, man :p

*raises beer*

It's impossible to argue this point. You win lol Ooo bring me back some cuban cigars. 2 or 3 should do :D

Vietnam...or Thailand, but I'm going to be biased and say Vietnam. A nice hot and humid 30*C on average, great food (depending on where you eat), great people, TONS of stuff to see and do, and everything is CHEAP. (Except maybe getting there, but I digress.) There are a bunch of beaches as well that are isolated from the tourist thing. Overall, those are my thoughts.

haha.

I'll be bringing back a box of Monte cristo cigarillo's (I'm no conaisseur, and I hate smoking large cigars now... by the end of one you feel like jail anus.... *no homo*)

there's a good chance they'll last well into the snowboard season, so I'll bring 'em to the next meet :)

well my main ambition would be to scuba dive with sharks, or at the very least on coral reefs.

we went to cancun once 3 years ago and stayed not in the tourist section but right on the edge of it. damn that place sucked. we went at the time that whale sharks were migrating thru, but that was the same year that Katrina hit and well.... the weather kinda made the giant fishes thing twice and they must've headed of else where.

we have also been to malaysia and borneo before and so the idea of thailand of vietnam are sort of been there and done that..... altho i am looking at micronesia / fiji / french polynesia.... of course the maldives would be primo, but there you encounter issues with the monsoon season; 11 hours rain and 4 meter waves do not make good diving conditions!

sadly for scuba diving snowboarders, the best times to go, are when there is snow on the hills!

coast rica is america no?
