throws up other hand, i can see why there would be concern over a politics section but if you dont like it you dont have to read it or participate in it. just my opinion, id like to see one.

It's not so much an issue of what goes IN the section, it's what comes out. *pulls your other hand down too*

people are always going to disagree and argue if theres a politics section then maybe it will be contained some what, if there isnt then all the arguements will be in the other forums.

also all this talk about forums seems to be only in the sb.com refugees thread. shouldnt this be made a seperate topic so that the other people that have been using this forum before us can know whats potentialy going to change and voice a opinion on what they would like and not like.

See, that's the thing with having a politics section. Sometimes, emotions don't get contained, and it spills into other areas of the forum. And I think (could be wrong though) that this has been discussed outside of this thread.

its sad when a few people and couple instances ruin it for everyone else. i remember only one real instance, and that thread was started in the binding section as a question about flow bindings then later moved to politics were emotions werent contained.

if this apparent limitation on what forums are or are not created in here, has primarily been determined on that Flow binder spat of before, then it is a sad decision made without substance.

i explain why (briefly but honestly and i will name names).

the flow issue whether started in the equipment or poli thread, was suggested to relocate to the other.... it didn't spill over, there was an active request for it to be moved. as such, the claim that things couldn't be 'contained' is invalid.

the personalities involved, HP on the one side, an opinionated swine as he would readily admit, has the inclination and will to respond in no uncertain terms to anyone suggesting a deviation to his POV. and why not.

on the other side, you had Shay (if i recall correctly), someone who is not a regular poli contributor and thus perhaps not entirely accustomed to the extent nor passsion to which people like HP would labour their POV; but that is not to say she is incapable of expressing herself in no uncertain terms (just examine her turn of phrase to anyone suggesting Joe sabotaged sb.com before leaving)

add to this the complexities provided by Shay defending the POV of her buddy (cannae recall his name) who themselves is capable of the most arrogant and therefore profoundly antagonistic language....

with all this, shit was gonna hit the fan. this came about NOT coz of the existance of a poli forum, but due to the tetchiness and i guess intolerance of the people involved, the majority of whom NEVER posted in the poli section!!!!! if this incident is the reason for poli aversion, i would suggest the prohibition of an bindings forum also.... if consistency has any worth.

now that is the reality of the situation (as i see it) and it is unreasonable. to this site's loss. i suggest the decision makers in this (ie the mods) seem to lack the inclination to give this issue a reasonable degree of consideration.

i am mindful of what you say snowolf, about people being stuck in their ways. whilst i would maintain that i have an open mind to other's POVs, i am also fully aware that 'in the heat of battle' i certainly do not come across as having that. it provokes an escalation.

this place however has suggested a new beginning and with it, a new standard of expectation placed upon those how interact in here. in addition to this, there is a new breath of moderation and intriguingly, there is a points system of warning, where you earn 5 points before a week long ban. this i thinkis a very nice idea and is one i look foward to trying to exploit the judgmental loopholes of

i also applaud you memory wolfy, specifically of the added level of personal attack injected to the flow binding flame war by Lakia; who regarded the squabbles created when individuals actually met in the real world!!!! you cannae get more removed from this online ether based community than that! fancy meeting in the real world!!! should such circumstance really be used to determine a future in here? keep such thoughts in a constant dimenesion no? now that was the only true form of 'spill over'!
