I just finished a Dogfish Head Midas Touch. Now I have an inkling as to what people drank a few thousand years ago.

Odd brew. Smells like honey and grapes. Taste starts with grape then abruptly transitions into honey and spice (assume this is the saffron). Spice remains through finish along with a touch of dry hops and a slight sweetness. Tastes better as it warms up as the spice isn't so in your face at that point.

Would I drink it again? For free yes. Will not buy again. I mainly got it for the geek factor since it's supposedly based off an ancient recipe.

Hm... My cousin drinks mead all the time instead of beer. I wonder how different what you had was from what he drinks.

Pretty different. It's like a white wine and mead mixed with a pilsner?

Yeah, that's a good description of midas. I expected a bit more from it since I love dogfish head's other beers. It was interesting though

Yea, interesting and odd fits it. I don't hate nor love it, but I probably will not buy it again. Might give it a go if I find it on tap. I'll give any beer another chance if it's on tap.

Not a bad bitter from what I can taste/smell. It has a nice rice-like after taste to it. I don't know how to describe the initial flavours though.

I don't think that Pike brews a bad beer. I'm drinking a Pike Tandem right now. It's a double ale, and it's delicious.

Ooh a beer thread! I'm jumping in here

I didn't start drinking until I was in my 20s because I couldn't stand the smell of the Coors/Bud/Miller my relatives all drank, and I thought all beer was like that. I finally tried Blue Moon once and liked it, and then worked my way through almost every type of beer (still don't like most lagers, tho I've had one or two I could drink).

My husband, who got me into beer in the first place, loves to remind me of the time last year when we were having a couple of Belgian beers and I commented on one that it was "only 8% abv" lol. Quality over quantity for me, for sure.

That Founder's KBS lived up to every bit of the hype around it. Smoothest Stout I've had to date. If you don't like black coffee or dark chocolate though, avoid it. The mouthfeel was so chewy delicious. Finishes with a magnificent touch of that boozy oakiness.

I wish I had more, but then I'd be broke.
