Am I missing something or did everyone decide to stop drinking?? Anywho, Edmonton International Beer Fest is today! WOO!
I love beer fests!! My girlfriend just got us tickets to the Boulder Sour Fest at Avery Brewing, apparently it sold out in less than 20seconds. I've never been before, but judging from the uproar on their facebook page it should be a good one.
First ever beer fest, survived, with the contents in my stomach + food!! To be honest, I was actually pretty disappointed. I thought the event was going to be mostly beer vendors, but there were a TON of clubs and crap like that. It was a good experience though.
I'm about to break open a bomber of 11% Stone Russian Imperial Stout!
Holy fuck it pours like syrup!
Stone is definitely one of my favorite breweries. Had a bomber of Ruination last night, only wish I had grabbed a couple more. I hope to make it out to the brewery one of these days, heard it's pretty awesome.
So, it was my birthday yesterday and my friend offered to by me a brew or two at a local joint. So I had a Humulo Nimbus by Sound Brewing. If you ever find this, and you like IPA's, get it. You won't regret it. In fact, I don't think Sound brews a bad beer. Then I a had a Lisa's "The Sun is Trying to Kill Me" Chocolate Stout by Georgetown Brewing Company that was served on Nitro. This was super smooth, and ultra creamy. Stouts on Nitro taps are the best stouts. I followed that up with a Crimson Cove Rye by Valholl Brewing that the owner of the joint bought me. This thing was absolutely delicious. Smoothest rye I've ever had.
At this point the local was closing up shop and my buddy had to go home so he could get up early for work. Just when I thought my night was done, I got a text to head over to my friend's house to have a beer or two with her and her husband. So when I got there they had a Sour in the Rye by The Bruery ready to go. This thing was ultra pucker, and yet oddly delicious. I think I'm gonna have to try a few more sours now. Then to clear the sour taste and end the night we had an Obliteration IX by Midnight Sun Brewing Co. Oh man, the HOPS. Seriously. This thing tasted like liquid flowers.
At this point I was sufficiently lit and ready to call it a night. All in all a good time was had, and somehow I managed to wake up this morning hangover free and ready to go play 18 in the sun and hail.
Damn. That sound like an awesome night. Sour in the Rye is really sour for a first sour, my girlfriend loves it though. It goes for about $20 at our local liquor store, but I saw it for $50 at a bar in Denver.
