copy and paste the text that comes after "v=" into the text box, highlight it, and click the youtube button in the text box toolbar...

if you quote my post you'll see what it looks like in html.

Thank you very much sir!

Anyways, in regards to this video, I had an issue with some cops at a festival a couple summers back. They asked me if they could search the car, and I said no. They then told me to simply have a nice night.

I like this because all the officers are spewing all this crap but in the end, we do have rights, and those win out.

If you don't want to watch the whole thing, watch a few and then the last one. That guy does it with style.

The problem is, as children we are conditioned to obey authority figures. So the majority of our population will do whatever a cop asks them/tells them, even if it is 100% illegal. So cops then get conditioned to have people obey their every whim. Then when they run accross a citizen who knows their rights, and objects to the officers illegal requests, you have a shitshow ensue.

I remember seeing a video of two guys going through a DUI checkpoint. They roll their window down a crack so that they can hear the officer. The officer orders them to roll the window down all the way (which you are not legally required to do) and the driver does not comply. So the cops smash the window and drag him out of the car. he broke no law, yet they treated him like a criminal.

Good thread. I found this to add to it:

What are my rights at various "checkpoints"? | Flex Your Rights

Basically it's a summary of your basic rights at various types of checkpoints, including the ones shown in the video.

Cops are going to do whatever they want anyway if they really want to. That's why I like to thank the real one's every chance I get. Had a buddy who got pulled over and the cop asked to search the car. He had his 5 year old brother in the car and he was starting to get scared so he said no. Then the cop told he if he let him search the car he was going to give him a ticket. He tried to talk to the cop, but he didn't give a shit. He eventually let him search the car. Meanwhile his little brother starts crying and the cop ripped his car apart by the time he was done. Didn't find anything.

I think the key is to videotape the cops whenever you get pulled over. Can't deny that evidence. I wonder if it was legal to give someone a ticket if they do not consent to a search?

It was a BS ticket. But if he had refused and took it to court it would have cost him quadruple the ticket amount and the officer would have to be there. Which means he is getting paid. Getting paid overtime too. And that is a good idea, but if they ask you to stop you should. Cops are really gonna win the fight unless you are willing to stop your life and pay huge amounts of money to fight it. In which case the cop doesn't lose anything and you lose way more than you would've in the first place.

Bottom line.....

I dunno. If I was in a situation and I felt it was important to tape for my safety and for legal reasons, I would keep the tape rolling. Now if I was doing something stupid, and deserved a talking to, I would not tape to keep the officer as lenient as possible.
