i have my third credit card on the way

come thursday, i will have a zero balance on my other two

my only goal with them is to build credit, my score is already decently high, but i want it higher

and since i dont make much money, i like the idea of having them around in case of an emergency

Lots of stagnant cards won't help your credit. What agencies want to see is a history of purchases and payments. If debt goes up, then back down. That's great. If you never build up any debt but have all this credit, that's not smiled upon by creditors. And I don't think I need to tell you what happens when debt goes up and never comes back down

well credit reports dont show charge and payment history do they?

the ones i have on freecreditreport.com only show various amounts of debt and amount of credit available

unless im not looking at the right thing

and i do try to put at least one thing a month on one of the two i already have and then pay it off in a month or two

They can see if you've made recent purchases even if you paid them off. That's really what they're looking for. A steady history of GOOD activity.
