i would have to agree w/ mooz...
given the number of crackheads, junkies, smokers & ex-smokers i know i'd have to agree that you don't need nicotine. at least, not like you need heroine or crack. smoking really is something you can quit cold turkey & i've found that most of my friends who successfully quit do so by going cold turkey...because they were ready to quit. all these products just prolong the moment, giving your mind more time to convince you otherwise. it's not the nicotine that's got you...it's your mind. it's a habit drug. break the habit, break your dependency. i HATE smoking...or rather the actual act of it, but i LOVE my smoke breaks. it gives me a reason to do something different. it breaks the silence, breaks the monotony, breaks a weird mood...it just gives me something to do. but it's been a looooong time since i actually said, "yum, this cigarette tastes good!" and actually, i'm going to take back what i said about heroin & crack...you don't need those either. i mean, yeah a heroin addict *might* need a small dosage of methadone for a couple days just to ensure he doesn't go into cardiac arrest, but these months-long methadone programs are just as bad, if not worse, than the actual heroin addiciton. it replaces that daily routine & therefore replaces the addiction. you won't heal yourself from addiction until you heal your SELF. |

It was more in the head thing than holding one in your hand if that make sense? I've smoked for 10 years and been off for 4. You must "really" want to quit to stay off. I didnt join the gym or drink water. If you can say no when you need it most like, drinking, it will become more ez the next time.. Just have to Mann up..

but i also thought to extend it to 3 weeks... then 3 months and then.... well i had stopped counting the days before the end of 3 weeks to be honest. to me, that is when you have truly quit.... it is so far from your mind, that you no longer count the days / months etc since your last act of weakness.

i quit! since yesterday! struggling, but hopeful. reeeeal shakey! and a bit insane. but what else is new
![]() i've done pretty good so far! smoked my last one at 4pm yesterday on my way home from dropping off my friend & thought "fuck 'em!" and didn't buy any more. got home, unpacked the car & then went to go to the store to get some but told myself no & turned back around. made it through the evening without buying any & through this morning, even after going by the store to grab a drink for work...still didn't buy any. haven't taken even a drag! this is the most effort i've put into quitting ever. i always give in within hours. hopefully i can make it through lunch. it needs to hurry up & come though cuz i need to get my buzz back on so i'll chill out a little! but yeah, wish me success & send me some strength of mind vibes to get me through this!
