Can't win either way. I wear makeup all the time. I also run a beauty blog and a youtube channel related to beauty. I have also done quite a bit of work as a freelance makeup artist. So it comes with the territory. At home I am happy to hang out without the makeup. I am ok leaving the house without it, but I usually choose not to. It makes me feel good to look nice and put together.

If a woman does not wear makeup she gets to hear crap about how she does not take care of herself, or treated like she is less feminine. But if she wears makeup most of the time she gets called high maintanance and gets to hear assholes at the ski resort call her snowboard barbie and laugh at the fact that she cares about how she looks while boarding.

Like most things girls do it is mostly done for other girls. Guys really don't care. Never once have I heard any of my male friends talk about a girls make up. Now if a girl walks in a night club with sweats and a baggy t-shirt she is going to look out of place to the point of crazy. Guys do avoid crazy.

There is makeup to accentuate your features, which I don't mind, and then there is makeup that hides your features, which can be annoying. When you start getting that caked up look, you know a girl is self-concious about how she looks and thinks makeup will fix it.

I get more annoyed with crazy pushup bras. It's like being lied to straight to your face.

Personally, when I see a somewhat attractive girl without makeup it bumps up the acctractiveness factor by at least an extra 50%. Not only that, but if she's out and about without makeup, it means one of two things (sometimes both):

a) she is confident in how she looks
b) she doesn't give a fuck about how anyone else thinks of her

either of those are in my book

This, being presentable is something that is attractive to both males and females. Anything beyond that is an attempt to show off - which also happens for both males and females, but mostly females it seems like. Ultimately most guys don't really give a shit what other guys think about them.

Anthropologically it's actually pretty interesting, because throughout the majority of cultures you do see this common "expectation" for women to compete through clothing and visual features. I'm still not convinced though that it's primarily for men; I'd say it's 75% for other women.

who fucking cares what men think? they need to be in the garage fixing my car and building me furniture!

seriously, tho. Who cares what 'men' think? They probably all have different opinions on things, they're not some male collective. I mean when I hear a man say "What do women think?" I find is slightly offensive....

Clearly we all think differently as evident from this thread. Jennifer I never, ever wear make up but if you want to wear it while snowboarding and it makes you feel good, FUCK THE HATERS. Wear it.

I have a really technical job and one day, for fun I wore a circle skirt (yup) and a pretty sweater. Still no make up, hair in a pony...and ballet flats. My male coworker was like "What's with the 50s get up?"

I said "I FUCKING LIKE IT" and he said "um, ok"

and that picture of olivia wilde? The top one, what the men are saying is w/o makeup? She's got a fuckton of make up on....so what men think is futile because most of them don't even know....

Just like I don't know the difference between all the power tools my man has in the garage..."uh huh, sure honey, I like the blue ones, they're prettier then the yellow ones. OHH YOUR DRILL HAS A LIGHT OMG COOL" lol

if a cat fucked a shark, the babies would be called women. snowklinger

Bingo.

My wife just doesn't get it. She's actually very low maintenance but she does like to look nice when going out. She just doesn't understand why I find her most attractive when she's in jeans and a t-shirt with her hair down. A bunch of make up and a "cute" outfit doesn't do shit for me. The first time I met my wife she was wearing a hoodie and sweatpants and she was hot as hell. Hot is hot. If you've got, you've got it.
