Thanks for the input thus far, I've been browsing around on cl and oodle and various other sites. I was just looking to narrow it down for a more refined search.
Just be aware there are a lot of flakes and transients. I got my spot in a house because some dude bailed in the middle of his lease and his check bounced. Make sure you get an arrangement where you all have a deal with landlord independent of each other. And make sure they aren't into habitually into heavy shit like blow or molly. I've smoked more weed and hash in the past few months than the rest of my life but I didn't get into any real trouble. I can't say the same for a lot friends I've made out here that disappeared after getting into heroin.

Keystone or breck will be your cheapest bets. Vail is fucking expensive. I only live here cause I'm a rich Mexican drug lord.

If jobs and quality of life are no concern, there's plenty of cheap housing with good mountain access between Idaho Springs and Georgetown - a.k.a. meth alley.

I've been looking a lot into Breck and it appears to be the most reasonable so far.

Jobs.. somewhat. Quality of life not so much. Like I said earlier, where I go to school is basically the slum of Massachusetts..and I worked in a convenience store one semester downtown.. I've learned to live among the crazies.

Breck is by far the most expensive area in Summit County except for living at the base of Copper.

I have a friend who lived in Georgetown. His rent was so cheap. However he said the drive was bad in the winter. Loveland and !-70 are a bitch. He said he felt like his luck was going to run out and something was going to eventually happen. Be warned that I-70 and Loveland Pass closes a lot. Lots of people drive like dumbasses.

Georgetown is actually nice. There is a lake, a town, rivers, nice hiking. The weather is more windy than summit in the winter and even colder.

Living farther away means you burn more gas and put more wear and tear on your vehicle. My friend said he was spending a lot on gas. He was driving a late model with some miles and that was also an issue.

Watch out for those sketchy Craigslist strangers. I really don't think this is a good way to find a room mate. I will pay more for studios for now on.

WTF is with heroin in Summit? I hate junkies. They are fucking garbage.

so do you have a job lined up? are you planning on getting a resort job? where are you planning on riding (epic pass)?

it's going to be cheaper and you will have more job opportunities not living in the mountains, but your drives are a lot longer distances for riding

you have a lot of CO people on the forum, but we need some more info to really help.

this part is really true...I live in CoSprings and I take the 24 to the 9 because it's easier than I-70 (less people, less wrecks), it's a little longer but one crash on i-70 and it becomes half the time.
