Default Cheapest areas to live in Colorado.

Planning a move out to Colorado ideally by next January. Was curious what you all thought were the cheapest neighborhoods to look around for an apartment. I don't need anything fancy. I can be perfectly content living in a tiny studio apt for a while because I'm pretty used to dorm life at this point. I currently live in one of the shittiest cities in Massachusetts, and I can't imagine it to be much worse out there so yeah. Cost comes before everything else. Geographically speaking, I'm looking anywhere longitudinally from Vail to Denver and latitudinally from Loveland to Colorado Springs. Any and all thoughts are appreciated.

I'm looking to move to Summit County for the winter so I'be been on Craigslist and zillow a lot. I don't know what your max budget is but I've seen people renting out rooms for around $500. It probably gets cheaper as you go further east from Summit County til you hit the Denver suburbs.

There are a lot of neighboorhoods in and around Denver that are very cheap. But with the cheap price you get a really crappy run down apartment and illegal imigrants for neighbors. If you are okay with that, you shouldn't have any problem finding something cheap.

I found my apartment using Padmapper. It scans all of the housing websites, including craigslist, and plots them on a map for you. This allows you to see all of the availible places in an area under a specified price. Just glancing it over there are about 9 apartments in Denver for under $500 a month right now.

I live in French Creek in Breck across from the mountain. It's not the nicest area but it's fairly cheap ($500-600), a 15 minute walk to the gondola and you can stumble home from any of the bars on Main. Use craigslist and you should be able to find something. My roommates and I got along fine.

That sounds pretty ideal.

Thanks for the input thus far, I've been browsing around on cl and oodle and various other sites. I was just looking to narrow it down for a more refined search.

I would imagine that gas would get expensive if one was to ride a few times a week. No?

The reason I'm looking at Summit is so I can get the Epic Pass and have access to 5 awesome mountains within an hours drive. I don't think there's anywhere else where I can get that kind of value; if there is let me know.
