If you really want to race your GT-R, who cares about a warranty? I void my warranty on every car I buy within a few months with all the modifications I do. I've never kept the original tranny or clutch assembly on any car I've owned, that I can remember.

All I'm saying is that if I had $80k to spend on a car and I wanted performance, value, looks and build quality, I'd go with the GT-R. It's my opinion. Don't get mad at me for it.

Still, if I could have any car ever made, it wouldn't be anything new anyways. It would be an Excalibur series II roadster or the abomination known as the Lamborghini Countach. No, I have no reasons. Don't question me.

You mentioning the Countach reminds of this funny story about a rich guy in my town who bought one of the 25th anniversary ones. He owns a huge construction company and bought one of the limited edition Lamborghini's, mint condition and had it dropped off via trailer at his mansion which is situated in this little town outside of the main city. He obviously told a lot of people about it and on the day he got it he was going to give rides to his friends and drive to some of the nicer stretches of road where you would want to take a race car like that. Anyway long story short, there are two ways out of the little town and both had sets of train tracks going over the roads. They were built on such a poor angle and the car was so low that he'd end up doing damage to it no matter how slow he went so he could never cross it. So every single time he wanted to take his car out, he'd have to put it on a trailer, get it over the tracks then take it off, and obviously do the same thing coming back.

He tried petitioning the city to fix it on his dime, or give him a permit to build a road around it, but it still took two years for the city to let him. The irony of it all was that he owned a big construction firm and could have done it in a few hours, but because the story got such high profile, he couldn't break the law. Quite the pain in the ass for a few hundred thousand dollar car...but those gull wings probably made it worth it!

I got to drive a 25th anniversary model. Bone white, sexy as you can get. It was an appalling car. Absolutely useless. And those were the best of the bunch! The guy who owned it was a weirdo. A rich old man, he used to park his car in the shopping mall parking lot, open everything up and just stand there while people gaped. I think that is the only reason to own one of those things. And I still want one, lol.

Also, let's stay away from talking about Nissan anymore. I don't want to argue with anyone anymore, it makes me tired.

I thought you would know more about the tranny given how much you like the car. Anyway, there is a switch on the dash for putting the car into race mode. It must be put into this mode to acquire the 1/4 time nissan advertises. However, if you put it into this mode, your warranty is automatically voided. Seems borderline false-advertisement, which is why several gt-r owners are corroborating to sue nissan. When in this mode, (on the completely stock car mind you), the $20k transmissions break! So, you're telling me you would buy this "performance" car even though it can't perform w/o voiding the warranty and very possibly costing you another $20k to get back on the road? You said "if I had $80k to spend on a car and I wanted performance, value, looks and build quality, I'd go with the GT-R." Well, with a gt-r, you're not getting performance w/o breaking a tranny, it's not much of a value if it doesn't perform, it looks bad-ass, and lastly, build quality blows (at least their $20k tranny does). I gu$ess you get 1 out of 4. Not bad.
