Well it's Monday, boo, hiss
Raining in town here, and the snow levels have dropped to 8,000ft. The resorts in my area have a base of 9,000ft or higher. The season cometh. So anyway, come on in, chat up whatever bs you would like too, the coffee's hot and the seats are warm. |

No rain here. Kind of pissed about it b/c the Tropical Storm was supposed to hit us, but didnt. I guess its kind of good in a way that I wouldnt have to go to my moms house to pick up any debris. lol.
Ahh.. Monday mornings in the office and you are talking about snow and its 90 degrees here!

They should employ that "RECCO" technology in to backpacking/mountaineering/etc gear. Might not of been able to help those guys, but would help search and rescue easier.

Recco might have helped, but on a mountain with that sort of rise, it may not matter. I suspect the high number of deaths being the easy access. The most dangerous places in Colorado are typically the most popular. Not the most technical. I can't say that I am surprised they couldn't find the bodies. Without a beacon or Recco, and that terrain. probably 5-10yrs from now, someone will find them.
Recco is a great way to find bodies... |

still summer here! well week 2 anyways!
sunny all day and temps just over 20C which is hot as i like it really, when office and underground are all i have to look forward to. still, it is better than being a corpse on a hillside i guess! thanx for the perspective in this thread guys. yar recco be good body recovery, but i reckon waiting until a thaw, wolves and what not will more likely recycle the goners before anyone gets to em (most of the time no?) which is little different to what the worms do to you huh? damnit! so grizzly a topic for a monday! i blame MPD! but all things considered; when i expire, please just feed me to the sharks!

^^^^ Sweet. Enjoy baseball while it lasts. It's going to be illegal next season.
I forgot to mention, last weekend at the avy jam I met up with John of the Friends of Berthoud Group. They asked me back to be a facilitator for their on snow avy session next season. I am pretty psyched on that. One of the more rewarding things I did last season. I'll post up dates and such when they send me the list. |
