Everyone knows what happened. If you don't because you live under a rock, here's a run down. Plaxico Burress went into a nightclub with a loaded gun with the safety off in his pants. It slipped at some point, fell to the ground, went off and the bullet hit him in the leg. He then went to a hospital claiming to be Harris Smith and said he was shot at Applebee's. After turning himself in, he said there were extenuating circumstances. He said he was afraid for his life. Now the big question is: What should his punishment be?

I personally think he should be gone from the NFL for the rest of the year, sorry Giants fans. He should also face jail time. There was a campaign recently that if you're caught with a firearm, you go to jail. Just because he won a super bowl shouldn't make him any different.

If you're worried about your safety, you're in the wrong night club. If you're worried about getting robbed, don't take your million dollars in bling out with you. I think this is such an irresponsible and blatantly stupid decision by Burress. Your team is geared up to be in the super bowl again and THIS is what you do?

I don't think the Giants are going to miss him much. The team is just too solid. They'll probably win the Superbowl with or without him. I also think he should be done for the season if not with the NFL entirely. The dude has been nothing but a problem child outside of the stadium this year. He's lucky to be able to make a living in that sport and acts like a spoiled child. If he's not kicked out of the NFL the next best thing would be for the Giants to trade him to a great team like the Lions, Texans, or Bungals.

This kind of behavior from pro players needs to be checked, he shouldn't play the rest of the season and should be charged like any other person.

What a dumbass. He will never play for the giants again i can tell you that. This isnt the only trouble hes been in. See what happens when you draft kids that went to Michigan State? You dont see Jake Long in any trouble do ya? Go Blue!

I haven't heard how much damage he actually did to himself. Considering he shot himself in the leg, and the NFL season's more than halfway over, it might not be up to the league.

I like the 'afraid for my life' bit though. Unless you're on the front in a war, I think you can afford to keep the safety on.
