Default Treat Your Subaru Better Than I Treat Mine

I started to notice that my WRX just didn't have the same gusto anymore. Today I opened up the air filter box and OMG! The box and filter were packed full of dirt.

I blame it on the all the off-roading, which it was never meant to do in the first place.

I took the filter up to my apartment, set it upside down on a table and gave it a little tap. Anyways, here are the results. Thought some of you guys might get a kick out of the abuse my car has taken this summer. I don't know whether it's slightly funny or just really sad.

I think it's time to make a trip to AutoZone tomorrow.

I think that's a solid 2 ounces (conservative estimate) of sticks, dirt, bugs, and mostly fine gravel. lol

Yea. I have a 97 lx450/land cruiser locked but its terrible on gas. I've been researching subaru for awhile now and think I will have to make a change. The only true negative feed back that I've read is the older models have head gasket problems. Either way I think that will be my direct.

OP. and other owners. How do you like you're subaru especially in inclement conditions???

Afaik, the head gasket issue is in the 2.5l n/a engines and usually doesn't appear until about 125,00 miles? (I think? Don't recall...)

As for inclement weather, the car itself has not had any performance issues except for the one time I took it off roading. I did get in trouble, but that was due to driver error, not the vehicle. Just keep in mind that even with a Subaru, it IS possible to get stuck. Just be smart about it.

I fully agree and understand that. After digging my truck out a few times, I am very cautious on the route I take and how "brave" I should be. Lol man it sucks to spend all night/morning trying to get unstuck. Especially if you have a girl with you->
