yea... rubbing your forehead into someones face for 20 minutes shouldn't really be your primary strategy as heavyweight champ... but he did pulp up JDS face pretty good..

some pretty good fights tonight. the girls fight was great. gil and diego was a fucking war - fotn for sure.. i'd love to see them rematch. IMO gil will never be champ of 155 but remain a gatekeeper for the top 5 or maybe 10. 155 is so deep...

roy looked like he didn't even want to be there, looked so out of it before the fight i knew he would lose by the time he got into the ring.

the Adlan Amagov fight was sick - he's another one of the dagestani/chenyan beasts. not a combat sambo champ like Rustam and Khabib but a NAGA champ and he trains and kicks it with those guys... WAR DAGESTAN/CHECHNEYA! (seriously.... they're war-torn countries kicking out some nasty fighters.) that ko was brutal.

oh yea... and cormier wants jones at 205??? is that what he said? he's fucking delusional.

The card was absolutely fantastic up until the co-main and main events.

I'm just really disappointed in JDS. You can't go into a fight hoping that it'll be different from last time. You have to do something to MAKE it different. To his credit, that's what Cain did after the first fight. In the first fight, he was tentative and seemed to be trying to time and setup his opportunity to shoot for a takedown and got knocked the fuck out in the process. In the 2cd fight, he came in shooting for takedowns like a mad man and failing, but then landing a big overhand right after getting JDS to start thinking about defending takedowns. After that, he had a ton of success just pressing JDS against the fence and holding him there and that was obviously his gameplan coming into tonight's fight. It was on JDS to come in with a plan to counter that. He didn't. You have to work angles against a guy like Cain. JDS just wants to move straight forward and straight backwards. You can't do that against Cain. It makes it too easy for him to get you against the cage. You have to cutoff the cage and create angles. It's just very disappointing that JDS had no answer for the same strategy that Cain found successful last time.

If Cormier can make the weight, he'll beat Jones. You can quote me on that one and take it to the bank. Jones THINKS he's an elite wrestler. Cormier IS an elite wrestler. Cormier would ragdoll his ass.

i disagree. cormier couldn't finish a half-asleep roy nelson who never showed up to fight and he'll lose power with the weight. he's never fought anyone with striking like jones and he would look slow as fuck, i don't see him picking up any speed by going down in weight - he'll be weaker..... but i'm sure you know more about the sport than i do so i definitely respect your opinion..

yea i was suprised he just sat there and let hi do it.. JDS looked way bigger but Cain seemed obviously stronger. JDS never tried to get underhooks and spin him to the cage to reverse the position and he never really threw knees or tried to work the clinch. he just seemed overpowered.

when he was on his back and he threw up that triangle for a second it looked like, well, something at least....

pretty boring fight tho... HW kinda sucks right now... 155 is where its at

We'll see. It's definitely a fight I've been interested in for at least a year now. Cormier has always been a small chubby HW. He's still carrying some flab weighing in at 224. He's at least as fast as Jones. Jones isn't insanely fast, but he does have great timing. At the end of the day, I just don't think Jones will be able to deal with the kind of wrestling Cormier can bring to the table.

And there's nothing to be ashamed of with not finishing Big Country. Dude is tough as nails and you always have to be wary of him landing that big right hand. That guy can knock your ass out cold if you get over confident and sloppy. JDS beat him like a drum for 15 minutes and couldn't put him away. Andrei Arlovski is the only guy who has ever stopped Big Country and that was 5 years ago.

So disappointed in JDS last night. Like Shred mentioned he didn't seem to learn anything from the last fight. Despite his boxing prowess it appears he never learned to circle and keep his hands up. In nearly every big shot he took in last nights fight JDS' hands were around his hips.

But, as Joe Rogan mentioned in the 3rd round JDS is clearly the second best fighter in the HW division. But, who (other than Cain) stands a chance with him? They may as well just schedule Velasquez/JDS cuatro in the near future. Because who honestly out there in the HW division can put up a fight with either?

JDS is one of my favourite fighters. Every time he managed to break the clinch and create a bit of space he stayed right where he was rather than circling out of there. Pretty frustrating but I suppose it's easy for us armchair pundits to criticize.

I like Big Country and his one shot power but man that guy is an idiot. He was dominated the entire fight and claimed Cormier wasn't engaging enough. Cormier was on Nelson like white on rice the entire fight.
