Trying to decide between jackets
First time poster.
I live in Hawaii so it's pretty rare that I get to hit the slopes (about once a year). I haven't been in two years because of a new job I had to miss last year's trip so I'm pretty excited!
Anyway I've been using an Oakley Jacket which has held up well over the past 4-5 years however, I decided maybe it was time to try something new. I did some casual browsing and found three that I liked, I figured I would check out a forum to see if anyone had past experience with the brands or jacket styles:
Option 1: Dakine Clutch ($230 have a discount on this one)
DAKINE Clutch Jacket - Men's | Backcountry.com
Option 2: Volcom Goretex($280)
Option 3: Burton Axis ($260)
To give a little more background, I prefer something less baggy and more fitted.
The weather we're in has ranged from 0 at the coldest, to 30s at the warmest but usually we're in between.
All three seemed to have good waterproofing/warmth ratings.
For layers I bought an airblast ninja suit during the last trip and that kept me very warm, I have other layer options but haven't needed them since using the airblaster.
Any input appreciated
For a once a year trip, goretex may be overkill, it's great don't get me wrong. But I just don't think you'll get the return on the investment. However a nice 20k/20k can be found fairly inexpensive and you can save that money for a second trip!
I for one swear by volcom products! Light weight and durable.
