Used goggles question

First off I'm new to this sport, I went once this year and got hooked.
This site has been a great help, so thank you to all who help out the newbs.

But i digress,

So im thinking about buying some goggles and on this site and other places there are some good deals on used ones. My question is how would one go about cleaning and disinfecting a pair. I more focused on the padding that fits flush on the face, is this part replaceable or just a few squirts of alcohol?

personal suggestion, if you've gotten hooked and plan on sticking it just get yourself a new pair. Used stuff is great, but a nice new quality pair of goggles really makes a difference.

Just a personal opinion, but if you are set on used, some rubbing alcohol would probably do the trick.

used goggles? how about just splooge on my face....

Goggles have the shortest lifespan of any of my equipment, I use, buy and destroy them like crazy. If you don't want to spend money, get cheap shitty new ones.

I'm picky though, I think used boots are gross too.

You can buy new goggles for less than 50$ online, why buy used?

I would never even think to a.) buy used goggles and b.) if I did buy used goggles, concern myself about disinfecting them. If you're new, just go buy some cheap goggles to use for awhile. You can worry later about investing in higher quality and more expensive goggles.

And used boots. *shiver* I have a buddy who buys them all the time via eBay. I don't think in the 8 years I've been riding with him he has ever bought a new pair of boots. Squicks me right the f-ck out, regardless of how much cheaper they were than the new price.

Friend didn't have goggles last weekend... Bought them at the proshop at the hill for 30 bucks.

Bob Costas bought used goggles and look what happened to him :dizzy:

Check out sites like Whiskeymilita and The Clymb to find good deals on new gear (they have goggles up at least once a week). The Evo outlet is also another good source.

Thanks everyone. Looks like it will be clean, unused , cheap goggles for this season.I was weary about buying used goggles but you guys pushed me back to my original thought which was don't buy something someone else sweats in.
