Using snow helmet for other uses?

I'm really liking the Smith Vantage, but it's a bit expensive. If I could use it for mountain biking and skateboarding also, I could justify the cost. Does anyone do this?

gonna be too hot for anything summer, and would simply not be fashionable, lol

think of the cost this way, divide by the ten seasons it will serve you, not so bad eh?

Buy it from a seller with a good feedback rating on ebay and be happy.

Used my Giro snow helmet also for kitesurfing and occasionally for rock climbing - (couldnít find a kite helmet that fits my head). I didnít have heat problems cos the water was cold ;). Worth at least a try.

Well, my last snowboard did last me over 20 years...

Bottom line, I'm at snowshoe, after all my helmet discussions I really don't want the irony of being carried off the slopes with a cracked skull.

I tried on the several smith optics helmets, and the vantage felt great. The others not so much.

Might just bite the bullet as (cost of helmet)<(ER co-pay)

I've searched the net, checked eBay, and if I want a men's L black, I might get lucky and get 15% off but that's it. For that difference, I'll just buy it here.

Don't know if anyone does it, but there are different requirements for helmets for each sport. Snow is a lot softer than pavement. I personally would not want to use my snowboard helmet for skateboarding.

Bern makes 4 season helmets with changeable liners

Sure fresh fluffy snow is softer then pavement but once it packs down and turns to ice or hard pack then it's definitely not so soft. I think all action sport helmets have a minimum criteria for absorbing impact forces and pretty transferable between the sports. The liners are generally what make the helmets specific to the different sports. Someone will correct me on the criteria for helmets but yea pavement isn't necessarily harder then snow.
