White Pants: Big Mistake?

I have a friend who's just starting and is thinking about getting white pants. I've never had a pair, but I've heard that they get very dirty very quickly. From personal experience, is that true? Would you recommend not getting white pants for a beginner? As always, any help is appreciated.

Every time I see someone wearing white pants they look dirty. I would personally stay away from white.

I rocked white pants all last season. And yea they get a little dirty so what. I mean im sure after a few seasons they will be really bad, but untill then its not that serious. other then these particular ones being one of the most comfortable paints ive owned they are my favorite. Dont worry so much about them getting dirty by the time they are sooooo dirty where dont want to wear them anymore it will be time for new ones anyway. just remember if you wash your snowboard pants you have to re-waterproof them. (I used to wash my boarding pants twice a season maybe with these I wash em 3 times a season)
