I recently bought a pair of Anon Figment goggles with a gold chrome lens. When I put them on, sources of light, such as light bulbs, are distorted in a way so that it looks like there are 3 or 4 images of the 1 light bulb. I've never owned a pair of goggles before so I don't know if this is normal.
Is this normal? Or should I return them and get another pair?
That is not a good way to test the clarity of your lens. Gold chrome is meant for sunny day riding so you aren't going to see light bulbs in this situation anyway. Go outside on a bright day and have a look around with em.
Mine do it as well but work fine on the hill, where there is one point of light and I'm not looking into it. Maybe you would have an issue with night time riding but even then, you are never really looking into any lights. Right?
So I got a chance to wear the goggles on outside, both when it was overcast and when it cleared up later. Both times this same distortion problem happened, mostly at the treeline where the trees contrasted against the bright sky. As I would look around, multiple images of the trees, where they met the sky, appeared (similar to the effect with the light bulbs).
Is this an effect of the mirrored lens that I will just have to live with, or should I look into getting some new ones? Because the distortion the goggles create is very irritating.
my mirrored lens on my goggles reflect also. not the way you explained it though. At certain an angle I can see a reflection of my eyes in my lens or reflection of trees and what not.
edit: actually it is the way you explained it. just not as severe to get irritating.
Yeah, the goggles do that as well. Whenever I wear them I can see my eyes and face, but that isn't as annoying because the image stays stationary while the multiple images of various things move back and forth as I look around, making it harder to ignore.
i only notice it when Im on the lift. when i'm riding i don;t see notice it at all.
