Mittens or gloves...
Figure they'll be used in Montana, maybe Jackson, Utah, perhaps Colorado...
I need something that goes higher up my arm than the gloves I have now (which work great on the east coast where everything is effing ice). I just can't decide between gloves and mitts. Thoughts? |
I prefer gloves, but my hands aren't super easily chilled
If you really can't decide, get trigger finger gloves. Mittens are generally warmer but you lose a lot of feel for stuff Regular gloves are awesome if you can keep warm. I just got a pair of Level gloves that rock.... Really only you can decide if you need mittens or gloves |
Yea...
It's my first time heading west, so I don't know what the temperature will be like. On the east coast, I'm usually okay with my gloves down to around zero with some -4 wind chill. I really want these bad boys (Alpha SV Glove - New / Women's / Arc'teryx), but I need to rob someone first. |
You'll be fine with whatever you're wearing in those temps...

I prefer gloves over mittens. I could never get comfortable with the "trigger finger" idea but my buddy swears by it.
I used to ride with mittens because it was the "cool snowboarder" fad. I have since realized that life is much easier with gloves (strapping, unstrapping, adjusting gear/goggles, etc) and never went back to mittens. We ride in single digits with very cold wind chills and my gloves perform perfectly well. |
