In the market for a helmet

Hey everyone so I have been doing some searching and looking into different helmets and reading as many reviews as possible and still don't feel as if I have a good grasp on what to get. After getting my new board and going out (I luckily didn't have a close call or anything) I figure it is better to be safe than sorry and to spend some money now to save a whole lot of money later. I am looking for something around $80 and audio is not very important as I am fine just throwing in my skull candy earbuds under the helmet. Goggle compatibility is a must and I would like something with good venting as well. I do not plan on doing too much in the park so it'd be mostly for free-riding (and avoiding head injury on the icy slopes of the midwest).

Thanks for any suggestions you all have.

Just grabbed me a Smith Holt. Goggles created a good seal with the helmet on. It is speaker ready, but does not come with them. Feels pretty comfortable. Retails for $70. Got it in mat black.

Nothing against Evo, but if you can cancel that order Alssports.com has a 50% off sale on Smith helmets and goggles... Just sayin...

I didn't get it at Evo. I bought it at a local store. Had a $10 dollar off coupon and didn't have to pay shipping. So it still wasn't a bad price and I got it before the weekend comes...

Nice. Good deal, then. Mine won't be here until after the Snowpocalypse here in the Northeast. Hope you get some use out of it this weekend!

The most important part of a helmet is how it fits. The way helmets are made currently doesn't leave alot of padding to make up for poor fit. Every helmet except for Smith that I tried felt like crap on my head. Ended up getting a Smith Hustle. It's a little bulky but the adjustable vents are awesome and it fits great with my Smith goggles.
