Dc Unbound??

I really want this jacket and i can't tell if it is a hard shell or a soft shell jacket. It seems perfect and is on big sale right now. If it is not waterproof then it will get heavy from soaking up the snow and shit on days when I'm trying new tricks. So here's the link and let me know if this is a good jacket or not.

Looks like the previous version of the Spectrum?

Spectrum on Dogfunk

Spectrum on DC website

If so then likely to be a softshell by the looks of it. Although I'm not exactly sure on the difference I just know that the Spectrum is classed as a soft shell and dogfunk seems to list the Unbound as a soft shell?

(P.S; if that's answered your question, any chance you could explain the difference between a hard and soft shell jacket please? Thanks)

ah cheers for that! Well I have the Spectrum, it's a lot like a hoody with not many pockets and comfort wise but it's a lot more waterproof than just a hoody, it's about 5k waterproof I think. So nothing to go swimming in or anything but enough to help keep the snow out!

Love my DC wear though!

It's a hardshell, but a very low end hardshell as far as waterproofing goes, which explains why dogfunk puts it in the software category.

It's only 5k rated waterproof, so it will get a little wet if you fall a lot trying new tricks, but it is waterproof. Be warned that if you fall in wetter snow or wear it when it's snowing that it may not hold up so well. Personally, I try to stick to 10k+ jackets with fully taped seams.

Other downside:
- No vents
- Looks like it has critically taped seams instead of fully taped seams. This means they only cover some stitch areas with waterproof tape instead of covering every stitch.
