Smith Vantage Fit Question.
I've done a ton of research on different helmets and decided to go with the Vantage because of the vents and removable ear pieces. And because of how light it is. I can't find a local (Houston, TX) shop that carries this particular helmet so I have no way of trying one on. My head is 54cm so by the Smith sizing chart I would need a small (51-55cm). My question is, how do they fit and should I buy the medium since I'm right on the edge between small and medium? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest buying it from Backcountry, they have a great return and exchange program. Buy the medium and if its too big switch it out for the small.

I have had some dealings with the vantage over the last few years. I have always had large helmets, and even with other Smith helmets, I am a large.. but for some weird reason, I am a medium in the Vantage. The large felt good, just a little wobble on top of the head, but once I tried the medium I realized how the helmet was supposed to fit, and it kept my ears warmer since it hugged them closer. Not sure why exactly, but if you are right on the cusp, I would go with the small. For reference, I am 6'3" and have been told I have a big head my whole life...

I'll second the motion to buy from, they have the best return policy out there.
