I'm on a quest and I need help
I'm only 14, but life has been extremely hard on me recently. I have a list of medical issues and life is getting more and more complicated with no end in sight. So heres my quest. Although unwell, I'm extremely athletic and will not stop snowboarding or longboarding til the day I die. I have done park and race, but I have only experienced a small amount of powder. I have hiked since I was small. So heres my plan. I plan to find the largest mountains I can in ME, then I will hike them and sail down. I plan to make these on average two day trips. But, I am encountered many daunting problems. The largest? Not much experience. So I would like any help possible. If you leave your email or email me at colec181818@gmail.com it would be much appreciated and I will respond. I need help finding gear, places to go, and a few more problems.
Thanks and I hope some of you may feel as I do and can benefit from this. - Cole |
You should probably go learn about the backcountry before anything else there chief. Otherwise you'll just end up another statistic.

My dad has been doing this ever since he was like 15, he went to school in Vermont and did as I plan to do on quite large mountains so he'll teach me about that stuff. I need help with gear, what to get, good and bad brands, etc

Either do a bunch of reading or head to an REI imo.

I'm doing reading in every spare moment I get. Any recommendations on books?

For books the one I always hear to get is "Staying Alive in Avalance Terrain" but not sure the author, haven't started on this bit of my own quest yet. |
