I got the burton ak jacket for christmas and its in a medium which is my usual size and when i have it on the sleeves fit ok when i velcro them but the jacket itself when i pull the strings and tighten it still goes down past my ass. Is that how this jacket is supposed to fit or is it too large?
also how far down are the pants supposed to go? I got the ak stagger pants in medium but they get probably halfeay along my foot or more after hitting the floor if im not wearing pants under them. I know its normal for this stuff to be baggy but is this too much?
Sounds fine to me. You want the jacket to come well down over your ass, otherwise you'll get snow down your pants all the time.
The pants wont be an issue when you have boots on.
What feels like a normal fit when you initially try outerwear on, is in practice generally too small. When you have all the gear on and some layers and stuff in your pockets you really want plenty of room to move and so you don't overheat.
I would wear medium for a good fit if I was wearing the jacket with everyday clothes but large or xl is by far the better feeling and looking fit for on the slopes. You actually have to go quite extreme before it looks too big.
