Just got back from riding and fell pretty hard on my head. Been a couple of hours and the pain is slowly going away but its still there. I was wondering if I should still use this helmet, the structure still feels strong but wasn't too sure if I should just get a new one.

100%, read any helmet manual and it'll say that after any impact it needs to be changed.

That said I bonk my head quite often against trees, sometimes the snow, rocks. I haven't changed helmets yet because I haven't seen any damage yet to any part of the helmet. Even all those little bonks are making me think it's time to get a new one again soon...

Any significant impact with a helmet you should replace it, especially if it is enough to give you pain as a headache or concussion.

The foam in the helmet although it seems hard absorbs the impact. Once it has done that it does not become soft again. So if you hit it in the same spot again other than protection against sharp objects you may as well not have it on cause there will be no shock absorption.

I just took a spill last week and got a mild concussion and whiplash.

I just bought a $170 that had only been worn 5 times. It still looks in good shape except for the visor. BUT---

I still bought a new one. The helmet probably saved my melon a ton. I don't look at is as $170 down the drain, I look at it as $170 well spent. I still have a headache a week and half later. I can only imagine what would have happened if I wasn't wearing a helmet OR a helmet that wasn't in 100% perfect condition.

I am not risking my head wearing that helmet again.

Haven't worn my new one yet, still waiting for headache to go away before I head back up.

I agree with other people--if you have to ask, its done. don't risk it.

Contact the maker of the helmet. With some companies you can send in the helmet and get the foam replaced for a lot cheaper then buying a new one.

Also, there are helmets made to take multiple impacts. My skate helmet from Triple Eight is like that. Any helmet with the hard EPS foam is a one nad done type.
