Default Turning a photo into a silhouette????

how do you do this? I wanna make a logo to put on a shirt or hoodie. We already do our own hoodies every year but wanna get a logo for them.

Thanks if you can help! I have no idea and assume it requires an upgraded version of a photo program like adobe........

I have a program called Paintshop pro (not as robust as Adobe Photoshop) and you can just tweak the brightness and contrast levels to get a silhouette pretty easy
