well i think you pay more than 20% 'for the name'.... but by 'the name', in reality you are referring to the costs Burton incur as part of their customer service procedures....

such as their jackets with embedded MP3 buttons etc which never last long and effectively permit a new free jacket each year to their long suffering owners. i have enjoyed a 'free' snowboard when one i owned delaminated.... but nothing is ever truly 'free'.

despite all this, their prices remain competitive enuff for them to maintain a lead role in the market; they make a profit and manage an exceptional team of professional riders.

Burton are what Rome aspires to be, and probably one day shall.

good luck to all of them! their efforts and innovations have made the mountains a fun place to be, and not solely for skiers (who frankly aren't deserving)!

back on topic - i would sooner french kiss a homo than a priest! (not an invitation!)

I think it will happen through the court system before the legislative branch. That said, it won't happen anytime soon (at least the federal level). No one who is in favor of it wants to bring anything near the supreme court at the moment (assuming something even moved that far up in the court system) b/c of who is on the bench right now. Most politicians also won't go near the issue because it is too controversial.

It's really weird. Polls indicate that most American's think gay people should have the same legal rights at everyone else, but many are unwilling to cede the word "marriage" over. "civil union" with the same rights as marriage, no problem. But talk about actually allowing "marriage" and suddenlly people act like they have sand in their vagina.

I hope you are being tongue in cheek here as Obama is not, nor ever has been a Muslim....

While I am a big fan of Obama, I have to say that I think Clinton would probably put forth more effort into the issue. As for it happening sooner rather than later, it all depends if we can keep McCain out of the White House. His Supreme court nominees would be a disaster.
