That's my point. No one party should have so much control. Hell, no TWO parties should ever have that much control. There needs to be a set of rules to prevent these parties from becoming so powerful. A president should be elected based on his support by the people, not a party. And here's the kicker, the Vice president should be whoever had the second highest number of votes not the goon the president chose to pretty up his/her ticket.

A true democracy has not existed on this planet since Hellenic times, and that's the problem.

BTW, I wasn't cracking on your spelling there. I was actually making a vague reference to Obama's dual use of the two accepted pronounciations in the same speech. YouTube - Obama Speech: 'A More Perfect Union' A few minutes in he says DEE-VICE-IV and then about ten minutes later he slips DI-VIS-IV in there. It seems to have become a recent fad. Before this year, I don't think I ever heard anyone say DI-VIS-IV. I thought you might have noticed being the Obama cheerleader that you are.

i am sad to think Mr Mooz, that the problem isn't one that can be levelled at the democratic process or systems of government, but to the demand for convenience coming from the electorate; ie us!

for many years politics was unnecessarily over complex, jargon rich, boring and ultimately frustrating for the citizenry. power was afforded to the ruling elite in that public interest was completely disengaged.

now in the time of info access being so immediately available on your desk top anywhere, (instead of going to a library to find an obscure journal or awaiting a daily news report by radio or TV) plus having an ever growing and retrospective archive of all that came before it, people are able to make genuinely informed decisions.

in addition to this, the polarity of politics; 'left' / 'right' / 'center' and all variations in between, allow for a 'sound bite' appreciation of who is who and therefore in general (and convenient) terms, what it means to feel such and such a way.

and of course, as seen thru gangs and footy hooligans over here, such identity lends a sense of kinship with other humans who would otherwise be complete strangers. and in this, there is comfort.

the two party system exists because of us and we are disinclined to see this change!

but have hope.... apparently this is an election campaign that has seen the biggest public interest EVER! and that is what democracy is supposedly all about. if from this public interest more people feel like you, it will inspire more 'independent' candidates to stand next time. afterall, ultimately such candidates are mere mortal humans like you and I!

i look forward to reading up on the policies of the Bovine Party come 2012!

Did any of u guys see hillary and obama on tv the other day. It reminded me of a superbowl or NBA final victory. U know how they come out instantly with the custom victory shirt or hat(u know they have both teams made of course)

Well they came out with new signs. Rather than just "change" which was imo nothing more than a catch phraze, now they have "unite to change". Just goes to show, marketing is on top of things.

Does that little exhibition indicate that obama isnt as strong and will fall toward the finish line for obviously he needs her(meaning the votes) support? or was it a marketing test...to test the waters and see if Hillary would make a vp running mate..

And I noticed something else...where is obamas wife in all of this. Seems like they tucked her away for abit.
