That's not really true at the moment. It's unrealistic to think that any extra oil that was drilled here would only go to fatten up the US supply to help drive prices down. It would be sold on the international market at market price just like most of what we pump right now is. The only way offshore drilling would help is if we completely nationalized the domestic oil industry, which is not going to happen. And no matter who drills it or buys it, it would take several years before any of it would show up on the market. Offshore drilling is not a smart long-term solution, and it's not a short-term solution at all.

First we need to find a good way to purify and condense Hydrogen that doesn't require more energy than is created by fuel cells. Fuel cells may not pollute, but if we need more C02 belching power plants to create their fuel we may not really be gaining anything.
