My cousin Jeremy is a Navy Seal on this fourth tour in Iraq. He is the perfect soldier, smart, dedicated, good heart. We have had alot of conversations about iraq and his role whenever he was on leave. For as much as we have had conversations u really dont get the full jist of it...until it does hit home.
Here is an email I got from my other cousin Francine this am when I came into the office:

Subject: Jeremy
Jeremy was under attack and got shot in the thigh. He has a bullet lodged there. He called Neysa at 4:00am our time. I guess of couple of guys died and some got shot worse than he. He ended up with the bullet lodged in him carrying 2 guys over to the helicopter because they were in worse shape than him.
All I know is he has been flown via medivac to another country and is in a hospital. They couldnt do surgury right now because the bullet is lodged very deeply. They may wait until his body starts to reject it or he may be flown to another hospital that has the skills to do the surgery.
right now I feel its good that he is out of that environment. He probably got shot in the best place for he could have been shot in the head chest or spine. My gut tells me he will be ok. We just want him home.

I am sure Jeremy wants to pull the damn bullet out himself and get back to his platoon. One thing is for certain. A soldier is a soldier thru and thru. As families at home suffer we need to keep a reality check that the soldiers are prepared and willing to do this job. It doesnt make it easier at home...particularly when it hits close to home.
