This is a valid point and one I would tend to agree with in most cases. In the case of the President and vice President however, it does matter a lot. You mentioned Bush`s experience; look a little closer though. He has failed at every business venture he was involved with. He had to be bailed out by daddy or the bin Ladden family (his partner in Spectrum 7 Energy was Ossama Bin Ladden`s brother) This is a guy who with the help of an OPEC oil Sheik failed ti find oil in Texas. He drove the Texas Rangers into bankruptcy. So while he has all the experience, it is all bad experience and shows poor leadership.

Obama has a record of results that show exemplary judgement. While McCains is similiar to Bush; all failed policies and shows lack of understanding of economics. He has voted against verterans over 19 times in this war.

Now no experience is just as dangerous in a position like the VP espeacialy one that could start flopping around on the floor at any moment. She stands a very real chance of becoming our president with all the pressure and command. She is nothing more than a puppet for the neocons pulling the strings in a McCain administration. So experience does matter in some cases.

And correct me if im wrong here, but McCain's VP choice really seems to be a quick tactic to win the bitter hillary supporters vote
That I think it was their strategy. Two things went wrong for them, one it was not a well thought out action out of desperation and at the same time was an act to pay dues to the evangelical wing of the party to get a religious nut job in there to promote this shift toward Theocracy they have been pushing for.

Here is where it falls apart. The women who support Hillary are by and large educated, independent socialy liberal with either skeptisism of religion or a tepid reaction to it. They are feminist who are adamanly pro choice and pro stem cell research. They are sexually enlightened and support gay mairage. These women place high value on quality honest education including science including Evolution. They tend to either strongly anti gun or at the least apethetic to the issue.

I do not see any scenario where these women will rally around McCain`s "substitute Hillary" who is so diemetricaly opposed their core political values, These women will never go for this insanely fundamentalis christio-fascist who has tried to get Eveloution thrown out of Alaska schools and teach Creationism. This radical anti abortion choice rights leader and life long NRA member who supports the brutal killing of not just my Wolf brothers in hideous and cruel ways is nothing but an 11th hour attempt to save his sinking campaign by placating the nut wing of the evangelical party that has been infecting the Republican party.

An even darker angle to this is the big oil and enrgy lobbyist who see her as a virgin lamb for sacrifice. She knows jack shit about any of these issues so she is putty in their hands to mold her into their puppet. The want ANWR and she has the key to ANWR!.

This spin and sound byte storm about "taking the Hillary voter is all smoke and mirrors to blind us to the real agenda here. Sad thing is Americans have become too apethetic and disengaged in politics for too long to get it. Only the junkies who take time to dig into these things get the real truths. They are there in plane sight; there is no big conspiracy theory here, just a lack of interest or time by the common American working stiff who keeps getting anal raped the hardest from the policies of these people.

You have to digg deep to find the real stories going on underneath the grandstand headlines.

Damn...sorry about the lenght...I tend to go too long after a beer and an Ambien...trying to fall asleep to get up early to riding at Timberline...

Overall, you are on the right track here, just keep your eyes open and don`t take anything anyone says for granted. Fact check and be diverse in your search to get a true picture of what went on. Prime example; I watched the entire convention with the speeches stremed live from the web site with no talking heads like Brokaw telling me what they meant and how I should feel about it...screw you asshole! I can think for myself and decide what I think without your spin. News is better raw without the editorial process.

Just to add a little...

Quote:
ST. PAUL, Minnesota (CNN) -- Bristol Palin, the 17-year-old daughter of Sarah Palin, is pregnant and will keep the baby and marry the father, a senior aide to Sen. John McCain confirmed to CNN Tuesday.
Bristol Palin, second from right, holds infant brother Trig at Friday's announcement of their mother's candidacy.

Bristol Palin, second from right, holds infant brother Trig at Friday's announcement of their mother's candidacy.

Republican presidential candidate McCain was aware of Bristol Palin's pregnancy before he chose her mother for his running mate, the aide said.

"Senator McCain knew this and felt in no way did it disqualify her from being vice president," said the aide. "Families have difficulties sometimes, and lucky for her she has a supportive family."

The 17-year-old, a senior in high school, is about five months along, in her second trimester, according to the aide.

The aide said it was decided the campaign would reveal this information now because of rampant Internet rumors that Sarah Palin's 4-month-old baby, who has Down syndrome, was actually Bristol's.

"In the course of correcting that, we needed to get the truth out," said the McCain aide. iReport.com: Share your thoughts

Sarah and Todd Palin issued a statement saying they are "proud of Bristol's decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents."

"We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us," the statement said. "Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned."

"Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family," the statement said.

The Palins also asked the media to respect their daughter's privacy.

The McCain aide insisted a key point to keep in mind is that Bristol decided to keep the baby, a decision "supported by her parents."

The worst thing about the pregnancy is I'm sure her families political standpoints have pushed her into decisions she didn't want to make, like keeping the baby and marrying the father. I mean does she really want that? If she does good luck to her but if not it's a shame.

Then again she got herself in the position in the first place I guess.

Can't make her look too good though, can't stop her daughter getting up the duff how can she look after the country? I know it's impossible to control everything kids do, I'm bad enough, but I'm sure alot of people in America may look down on this?

on the contrary, this whole teen pregnancy thing is being spun to perfection.

from the last few presidential personalities, we have seen brazen 'i did not have relations with that woman' denial, and the blatant incompetence of an oil rich chimpanzee.... basically we have seen characters from the untouchable elite.

here in this VP, we see a person who has strong views on abortion, marriage and all those stoopid arsed, religiously derived things, but we also see someone who does what she says. this brings a wealth of credability and integrity to her and the campaign.

also, it makes her accessible to the every man, or rather to the every woman. for sure she is about to be thrust upon the international arena of politics, but the people who will vote for her and McCain care more for what she might do for them at home.

unruly teenagers are a fact of life; but how they are dealt with can acquire tremendous approval and thus support. this is being perfectly exploited.

Even obi supports her on that. Matter of fact his mother was 18 when she got knocked up!.

Paolo is right, unruly teens are a fact of life and to address it in the way they have makes it even more appealing to the women...

Ohhh and btw...This election has very little to do with religion...Open your eyes...either a black or a woman vp....and you can thank Hillary for setting it all up...

Good job girl U just put us back in the white house.

the role of VP is effectively pointless. in fact, it is argued that it is as useful as 'a warm pint of piss' once the election campaigning is concluded.

the republican pairing of right wingers is inspired in the hope of disassociating from the last fucking catestrophe. good luck with that. they are oil. even she cannot remove herself from this fact, no matter how shabbily she might have treated Exxon representatives in the past. they can try to suggest that they say what the mean and mean what they say; they can try to illustrate action over inaction in the face of storm surges....

but they are still of oil industry stock; they still oppose violence of the unborn, but the ability to wage violence on the living. there is a tremendous bias in their partnership towards the religious side of things. America is THE most religious nation in the world!

obama has brought in biden to show that he has the ability to acquire experience and knowledge from a broad scope.

mccain has brought in palin to show that he has the ability to appeal to the jesus freaks and females.

the republican partnership shouldn;t be seen as now being a push over, but it isn't likely to win in the end. if common sense prevails IMO

Dear God, I really hope that does not happen. As much as I think Obama is not prepared, it can't be worse than the last 8 years of garbage we have just endured.

Lets hope for the best, Go Obama/Biden.

Ohh they will get in(IMO)

See everyone wants "Change"...u can thank obi for that with all his signs waving all over the place when he was running against Hillary. And you can thank him for getting women to take a "hard" interest in Politics simply because Hillary did give him a run for his money...thats about all it was but non the less it opened that door.

NOW...we cant just take these conventions and say...lets vote. There will be a long campaign trail on both sides. Watch how all the women fall into Palins plight...watch! Women are very intuative and regardless of any faults....she is a women.

Reality is everyone will have more interest in the Republicans simply for the fact that Obi didnt have faith in a women as a VP.....But McCain, a well respected political figure did....

That represents "True" change. Its a perfect time for this.....

Look. Dont take it personally. I have no problem with Women. My wife does an excellent job of cleaning the house..

Hahahahah thats ok. Just remember my friend. There is a reason they call it the "Whitehouse"

Looks like the good ole boy insider network doesnt know what to do about our future female vp...They are trying to slander her and its backfiring....
