Joe Biden was not on my list of candidates either. As a flaming liberal...oh alright, as a Socialist, I found him to be too much "Republican light" and my one beef with Barrack Obama is that he has shifted to the right away from progressive ideals. I understand that in order to win, he must moderate and appeal to independents and some Republicans, but I don`t like to see him acting like a Republican. Joe Biden is the kind of Democrat who has allowed Bush to get away with all of his shit and he is a bit like a male version of Nancy Pelosi. I had really hoped for a Brian Schweitzer (Governor of Montana)or Bill Richardson (Governor of New Mexico) type of VP pick.
Having said that however, I will defend Biden to a point with regard to this quote. I am not sure of the exact context so I certainly could be in error, but from everything I have heard him say regarding this point, I truly think his point is that the uber rich who want to get even more tax breaks in a time of war and deficits are unpatriotic. I tend to agree with this myself. Not that I want to "stick it to the rich" I just think that like all Americans did in WW II, everybody should sacrifice a little bit for the sake of our country.
The poor and the middle class have in fact sacrificed a lot for this ill advised war. It is the poor man who dies in rich men`s wars. The lower tiers of the economic ladder always feel it more when there is inflation and other economic impacts as a result of war spending. The uber rich do not feel this to the same degree nor do many of them send their sons and daughters off to die in war. The least the fat bastards can do is to reject the tax cuts they got and just pay the taxes they were paying before. Of course by example the smirking chimp`s idea of sacrifice is to stop playing golf..
