Politics forum going away.

Snowolf is the moderator in this forum. I don't care much for political discussion, every once in awhile you'll get my $0.02 but for the most part I don't watch this forum.

Personal attacks, complaints need to stop. On all sides. It's fine to disagree with another person's opinion. That is kind of the point of this forum. I know that some mis-steps have been made on our side. It happens, we are people just like everyone else. The only thing that separates a mod and a member is a few extra buttons and the nice target you become. If you truly feel a mod has stepped over the line, it should be brough to my attention, or Trueblue's if you feel I can't deal with it.

So what it boils down too, is no one else on the mod staff wants to monitor this forum. So at this point, if Wolfy goes, so does the forum. I don't think anyone seriously means the personal attacks the write down, and I have a lot of respect for all of you. Again, this forum ain't my thing. Remember how we got this forum started. So do me a favor, think twice about what you are posting, quit the infighting, make nice, continue on, and we'll pretend this never happened.

and what of the 'right to reply'? sorry KC... for me, none of this is taken personally, but when someone puts something down about me, i feel inclined to respond to it. (even if to agree with them!)

if that person happens to have the buttons to inhibit such a response, then damned sure i will be starting a new thread.

i am disinclined to call in for administrator assistance on anyone. i can fight fire with fire and that is the way it is; running to a big bruvva just isn't in my resume.

as with every single forum of a potentially contentious nature in the entire ethernet world.... don't dish it out, if you can't take it back. a forum should allow things to go both ways. failure to follow this 'rule of nature' is to identify where things break down.

and so now what? we are being told that any amount of crap can be levelled at us, with no chance to respond and this is the way it is or else the entire thing gets pulled?

Paolo, you have my respect and I think I understand how you operate. Hopefully one of these years we'll get to share turns together. Of course you have a right to reply, the forum format solicits a response from anyone so inclined to join up and type a response. Hence the spamming problems. I am asking that everyone quit taking it personally and quit dishing out personal attacks. All it takes is one person to quit the cycle for it to stop. If a member continues to make one sided attacks after that, they aren't going to be a member of this forum for very long.

I say go un-moderated on this section (with the exception of spam removal). Let the community self moderate and mature on its own (this actually works really well). This should soothe at least a couple inflamed glutes.

KC, you are right that people do need to be a little more considerate to eachother and the mods. However, this is the Politics section and generally people do have strong opinions and beliefs on the subject.

Personally, I tend to stay away from this section for the most part, because it takes way too long to respond to all the posts!

The bottom line: everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, but do respect those of others.

Yes, you can have strong beliefs. Please do respect the other members, regardless of how much you disagree with them.
