Default For you firearms owners !

NRA-ILA :: Big Brother's New Target: Tracking Firearms

Very Important for you to be aware of a new bill HR 45 introduced into the House.
This is the Blair-Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sale Act of 2009.
We just learned yesterday about this on the Peter Boyles radio program.
Even gun shop owners didn't know about this because it is flying under the radar.
To find out about this - go to any government website and type in HR 45 or Google HR 45 Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sales Act of 2009. You will get all the information.

Basically this "little" piece of legislation would make it illegal to own a firearm - any rifle with a clip or ANY pistol unless:

.It is registered
.You are fingerprinted
.You supply a current Driver's License
.You supply your Social Security #
.You will submit to a physical & mental evaluation at any time of their choosing
.Each update - change of ownership through private or public sale must be reported and costs $25
- Failure to do so and you automatically lose the right to own a firearm and are subject up to a year in jail.

There is a child provision clause on page 16 section 305 stating a child-access provision. Guns must be locked and inaccessible to any child under 18.

The Government would have the right to come and inspect that you are storing your gun safely away from accessibility to children and fine is punishable for up to 5 yrs. in prison.

If you think this is a joke - go to the website and take your pick of many options to read this..

http://www.nraila.org/Legislation/Fe...d.aspx?id=4329

It is long and lengthy. But, more and more people are becoming aware of this.

This is just a "termite" approach to complete confiscation of guns and disarming of our society to the point we have no defense - chip away a little here and there until the goal is accomplished before anyone realizes it.

Side Note: Enforcement??? not a chance! With all the gun laws on the books now that are never, or can't be enforced now, what would anyone be thinking to add another law and think it would/could work.

You gun nuts in the States always make me laugh, pretty much most of that is standard in Canada, yet we all own guns and the big, bad gov't isn't creating a police state where we bow to their will. Those bastards trying to take away your AR-15 for hunting.

Snowolf,
Responses like yours go a long way towards reassuring the non-gun owning public that there are plenty of responsible gun owners who recognize the legitimate concerns over gun safety. Knee-jerk reactions like "they can take my gun away when they peel it from my cold dead hand" just reenforce the negative image of yahoos who don't deserve to be trusted with a butterknife. Guns are designed to kill and they are meant for grown-ups. It's reassuring when people recognize the serious responsibility that accompanies the right to bear arms.

Better start roiling up the Republicans then. They'll make sure the bill gets killed. Just tell them you found out the bill is carrying WMD's, dealing with Al-qaeda, killing unborn babies, and trying to restrict oxycontin. Don't worry about evidence, their base wants to be brainwashed.

I am not a gun owner. However, I definitely have an issue with HR45. Mainly section 305, the Child Access Provision. This provision certainly violates the 4th Ammendment. This gives the government the "right" to search a gun owner's home. No thank you. I understand that there needs to be a definitive solution to storage and safety problems, however HR45 certainly isn't it.

I think most people's idea is that gun owners are only in the south, chew char, are married to the cousins, and ride a confederate flag covered pick up with a gun rack in the back.

Snowolf is right, even those unstable few in the law enforcement shouldn't be allowed firearms.

There's an easy way around that clause. Don't own a firearm.
