Default Sotomayor...a wise choice?

Obama has named his first nominee to the US Supreme Court....Second Circuit Court of Appeals judge Sonia Sotomayor. Some on the left are disappointed that she is not likely to provide a strong liberal counterpoint to the likes of Scalia. Given that it is early in his first term and he has two wars, a global economic meltdown, healthcare reform, etc. already on his plate, I think the President played it politically smart with his choice, rather than waste valuable political capital on a more outspoken liberal activist. We will have wait and see just how much "empathy" she has.

Maybe. I think Obama is trying to feel out diversity maybe a little too much. He might just be sitting there trying to arrange the dinner table boy-girl, boy-girl. I know it's in direct contrast to the Republican 'Good ole boy' way of politics that worked so well in the past.

When it came to employers vs employees she went with employers over latino employees.

Of course the republicans are now trying to figure out how to bash her without hurting the latino vote..well forget that she is in and she will be fine.

Certainly she is qualified, she has come along way and I dont see her being any worse than anyone else.
Good to see the republicans scared of their own shadow these days.

The repubs are scared shitless of putting a foot in their mouth in this case.

They're not commenting on her b/c the media hasn't dug up any dirt yet and they don't want to throw mud at the Latino vote. The moment the media digs up a skeleton, they'll be all over her like flies on shit.
